Canucks Game and Widget Update

Comments 5 by Rebecca Bollwitt

Canucks in 5 I must defend my honour as a Canucks fan following my little stunt in my Bruins jersey. All in good fun although some begrudged Leafs fans decided to pounce on the chance to oust a member of The Crazy Canucks Podcast. For this reason, I’m going to pepper this post in “Miss604 wearing Canucks stuff” photos.

Tonight we host the Flyers in the first Pay Per View game of the season and this ‘fan of the day‘ is all over it. Well, all over other people’s all-overness of the action. So I’ll turn to JJ, who’s got a preview for tonight’s matchup:

totally didnt realize i never posted this on flickr It’s been six years since the Philadelphia Flyers have been in town. When I was still working at GM Place, I remember the Canucks playing them every New Year’s Eve, but of course, they haven’t been around since December 31st, 2001…

…The Canucks are coming off a weekend with mixed results. They played horribly against the Sharks on opening night and then put together a good overtime win against the Flames on Saturday. I’m hoping the team that showed up in Calgary shows up tonight. [Canucks Hockey Blog]

diff angle The Yankee Canuck starts off the game preview by being a little more bold:

So, with 80 games to go, this much is clear: The Canucks still have the inherent ability to drive each and every one of us batshit insane. And, a mere 24 hours later, they have the ability to make us go batshit insane in an entirely different way. [Yankee Canuck]

The new Canucks website also has its own “press roundup” where you can browse the hockey news stories of the day.

Also, how did I know there was a game tonight? Well the fact that I don’t live under a rock helps but also, my trusty Canucks dashboard widget, as previously blogged on Metblogs Vancouver.

The widget is working great for me so far despite the fact that it’s linked up with Fox Sports. However I’m not sure if it displays results from past games and it’s not showing anything for the pre-season. [MBV]

Not to fear, two games into regular season and it’s working like a charm so far, I highly recommend it.

The Crazy Canucks Podcast Featured on CTV Lastly, aforementioned The Crazy Canucks podcast is up to Episode #46 thanks to Alanah and her super skills. We hope to have everyone on the line for the next one but until then, check out my amazing co-host’s interview series with bloggers and press from around the division. You can visit The Crazy Canucks podcast site to listen or subscribe but we’re linked off the Canucks site listed as an official fan podcast as well.

Cheesy Matching Bollwitt Chests Spoiler! – Although the Flyers just scored two goals in 13 seconds, the Canucks have almost caught up with Ryan Shannon’s goal, making the game 2-1 for Philly in the middle of the first. So far the PPV coverage is no different than last except the graphics now have green and white instead of just blue. Kirk McLean is back doing some commentary and Larscheid already said his first cheeky comment of the season, “he’s a guy that’s always looking for your back end.”

The Cardiac Canucks is how I used to call `em back in the day.

Cap’n Kirk’s now doing colour for Canucks PPV … wow.

    Whoa … 2-8 … now, *that’s* a drubbing.

But hey, it’s a long pre-season tournament until April.

Canucks PPV is still as cruddy as before, just with fancier graphics and a new set. Other than that, I don’t see anything too special with this season, and don’t tell me that putting a mic on Ryan Kesler for the whole game is worth the money spent paying for PPV.

That’s terrible. You defend your Canucks honor and they get their ass handed to them by the Flyers. Bad timing by them.

I had the misfortune of BEING at the game where our ass was handed to us…

However, it’s early, and I, like you, am a die hard fan (have been since 1994!)

btw, GREAT blog, love reading it!

I had the misfortune of BEING at the game where Philly handed our asses to us… Reminds me of the last Philly game I was at (1998, 8-0 for Philly!) – so we’re improving!

    btw, GREAT blog!
