Canucks Alumni in North Vancouver

Comments 13 by Rebecca Bollwitt

This weekend I’m heading over to Standard Building Supplies in North Vancouver, and not because I need some lumber. When this proprietor wants to create an event and get promotion going for his store he goes all out and this Saturday is no exception. He’s going to have several local radio stations on location, prize draws (including the chance to win a Porsche), tons of food and the best part… Canucks alumni signing autographs.

So far I’ve heard mention of Cliff Ronning, “King” Richard Brodeur, Geoff Courtnall, Dave Babych and Gino Odjick. Did I say Dave “the moustache” Babych and Gino “Ozone” Odjick? You bet I did.

The event takes place this Saturday at Standard Building Supply, 22 Bewicke Avenue in North Vancouver from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Dave B’s kids came to the camp I used to direct, and all the staff guys got together to write him a postcard and tell him how much they love him.

I wonder if he ever sent his kids again?

Seeing Gino would probably just do me in.

Meg – you should totally come out. We’re going to be there after noon sometime. I’m giddy, actually giddy.

I remember all those players lol. I loved when Gino would fight and people in the crowd would just chant his name over and over again! Or when they wanted him to instigate!

My brother’s friend is nephew to Cliff Ronning, Geoff Courtnall is from Burnaby isn’t he? And people have said I skate like Dave Babych! lol

I heard this on Fox this morning…apparently you can win a 2005 Porsche Boxster if you buy something!

Yeah I think the Porsche thing is on-going. At an event earlier this summer they had that promotion going as well, not sure when the contest ends but they’ll have the car on location so you can check it out.

Oh man! Canucks reunion, awesome! I’m going to try to come too!
Maybe Sergio Momesso will be there – I can still remember when he spit in the ref’s face at a game when I was about 13!

    Momesso? AWESOME.

Now, I’m trying to remember … did the Canucks’ home crowd ever serenade Odjick with “Giiiiii-no”, as they did with “Haaaaaaaar-old” Snepsts?

The classic Canucks! My favorite era!

My uncle that lived in Nelson bought a couple of vehicles from Greg Adams’ father’s dealership; my long, lost friend is Cliff Ronnings’ cousin; and I still have the cap from game seven of round one of the 94 playoffs (at Calgary) – the cap that I got the Pat Quinn’s autograph on!
