Miss604 Poll: How About That Weather, Eh

Comments 10 by Rebecca Bollwitt

West Coast Sunset – Duane Storey

It’s what we do in Vancouver, we talk about the weather. How much rain we had last week, how many rainfall records we broke, there was once a glimpse of sunshine in March where crocuses popped up but then were covered by frost the next morning… So in this spirit, I have a poll below.

Regardless of if you’re in heaven or feel like this is hell on earth, get out and enjoy this rain-free weather. Whether it be in the shade or soaking up the rays. – oh but bring your laptop with you so that you can read this and contribute to the poll, of course.

…and if you are staying inside, hiding from our long-lost friend, Mr. Sun – enjoy some minisodes, your fave 80s tv shows sliced down into perfect 6 minute episodes, good times.

Sure the weather is great and people will always complain no matter what it is doing outside.. but high 30’s in vancouver is silly!

It was 27 degrees here at 6am!! And today or tomorrow it is supposed to hit 39+??

I love the sun though, but I like the rain too. And for those who hate the rain in Vancouver… MOVE 😛 I hate when people complain when it rains, we live in a temperate climate where the majority of the time it rains!

Reminds me why David Duchovny moved… Tea Leony didn’t like the rain… waaa 😛

oooh, rain is edging out sun in your poll. must be the hardcore vancouverites responding. i loved how it didn’t rain for over a month two summers ago. well, i went to l.a. for a week and it rained a little but otherwise, it was about six weeks of dry weather.

outside of vancouver people always say people talk about the weather when they are bored with you or there is nothing left to talk about…but here i agree it is just part of us. i like it when it sticks to around 24 to 26 any higher i start to die.

I was going to ask Wyn, but Corinna too – how do you guys like running in the heat? Is it better than a soggy workout or just too unbearable?

i live for running [when me knee will let me] in big rain storms but rain in general is lame i do prefer the heat, i run much better in it sometimes you don’t even notice how hot it is because you are sweating so hard it keeps you on the cooler side.

High 30s in Vancouver is just too much to handle. My perfect summer weather would be sunny and around 25C. I don’t mind having a little bit of clouds. They keep you cool when you go hiking in the alpines. 🙂

Heat is okay by me, although I’d be satisfied with 30-31 rather than 37-38. I had a customer on the phone the other day in Arizona, and it was supposed to hit 48C the next day (it was 47 the day I talked to him). Now THAT is too hot.

But I’m with Tyler. Vancouverites are never satisfied with the weather.

It’s just a matter of heat acclimatization but the weather’s been so wonky that a hot day hits you really hard. Heat is better. People are out and there is more interest factor when you’re out on a sunny day.

I just watched An Inconvenient Truth, so my poll answer has more to do with fear of global warming than me being a typical Vancouverite whiner.

Wait. I am still a whiner.

But I have an excuse. I spent the last two days at work, where our furnace went crazy and heated up the place.

    Before the monsoon rains.
