Advertising on Miss604
byAfter reading Rod Templeton and seeing John Chow and his bagillion-dollar ad revenues one too many times on The Lab I finally decided to start ramping up the monetization of the site. Yes, “monetize” is not my favourite word either but it’s about time I started doing a little more. If I can promote local business and get a little something out of the deal (after doing it for free all these years) I’m going to give it a whirl.
Fewer gaudy Google Ads and links to sites and places people actually might visit in Vancouver? That’s the idea.
The first ever paid advertisement, that isn’t a Google Ad, is for Money Coach. I have also included the Rio but that’s in exchange for some screenings that have been offered to me through my blog.
I’ve profiled Nancy Zimmerman before, during my Blogathon, and when she heard me entertaining the idea of ads on my site a little while ago, she stepped up and offered her services. Ironically enough, Nancy’s specialty is helping people manage their money. She offers consultations, advice and programs to help people gain more control in their lives… instead of having it run by financial burden.

It’s always about the money with you. 🙂
I hope that you have better luck with it than I have. I haven’t had a sniff from anyone since putting up the link.
Just gotta build that traffic first, I guess… 🙂
We’ll see how it goes, I just like supporting local businesses rather than getting maybe 5 cents a day from Google Adsense hehe. I will be keeping my day job.
Gosh, I would just be happy to increase the traffic to my site 🙂
Though I gotta admit, I now get 30 hits when I used to get 3. So that’s a ten-fold increase!
And you got some famous readers too 😉
just get a webcam and live your life on the internet a’la Jennycam from back in the day and make money from the pervies!
As I’m in Germany for a couple of weeks, I was amused to see an ad for Partnersuche (“life partner searches”), presumably through google’s adsense.
– “Willst du mit mir ausgehen?”
– Why, certainly … if you provide the beer …
