Vancouver Sun Run 2015 Road Closures, Route, Start Times
byThe Vancouver Sun Run, Canada’s largest 10K, is coming up on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Now in its 31st year, tens of thousands of locals and visitors alike will participate by running, walking, and wheeling their way across the city. Here’s a guide for the day, for those navigating the city or participating in the event:
Vancouver Sun Run 2015 Start Times
Due to the large number of participants in this event, the Vancouver Sun Run has a wave start to stagger the start in order to maintain control of the crowd and ensure the course does not become too crowded.
8:00am 2.5K Shaw Mini Sun Run start (Pacific Blvd, across from BC Place)
8:30am Vancouver Sun Run Post Race Party opens
8:40am Competitive Wheelchar start (Georgia at Burrard)
8:50am Women’s Elite race start
8:47am GoodLife Fitness warm-up
9:00am Sun Run Start & Men’s Elite Race
9:00am Blue and Yellow waves start
9:05-9:30am Green and White waves start
9:24am (approx) Winner crosses the finish line (Pacific Blvd, at BC Place)
9:30am-9:45am Purple and Red waves start
11:00am Awards ceremony on the Main Stage at BC Place
Vancouver Sun Run 2015 Route
Starting out from Georgia and Burrard, in the heart of Downtown Vancouver, the run will head downhill to Stanley Park where participants will continue around to English Bay to Hornby, onto Pacific Ave, and across the Burrard Street Bridge. Exiting on West 2nd Ave, the course will wind along Fir St to West 4th, east on 6th to the Cambie Bridge for the final stretch to BC Place.
Roads used on the course will be completely closed to vehicular traffic and observers will be able to watch and cheer from the along the sidewalks. Water stations are provided at numerous locations along the course as well as music entertainment in the form of bands.

The following roads will be closed on Sunday, April 19, 2015 (approximate times):
Seymour St to Bute St (start area) 5:00am to 11:30am
Bute to the Causeway 8:00am to 11:00am
– (including all streets crossing Georgia) to Lions Gate Bridge
Lions Gate Bridge access from Pender only 8:00am to 11:00am
Howe to Burrard from Dunsmuir to Robson 5:00am to 11:00am
Denman St to Georgia to Robson 8:00am to 11:00am
Robson St to west of Denman St to Stanley Park 8:00am to 11:00am
Beach Ave, Stanley Park to Hornby St. 8:30am to 11:30am
Stanley Park Dr at North Lagoon Dr 6:00am to 11:00am
Ryan Rd at Park Lane/South Lagoon Dr 6:00am to 11:00am
Burrard St to Hornby (eastbound lanes) 6:00am to 12:00pm
Burrard Bridge to closed to all traffic 8:00am to 12:00pm
Cambie Bridge to closed to all northbound traffic 7:30am to 1:00pm
West 2nd Ave – Burrard St to Fir St 8:30am to 12:00pm
Fir St to West 2nd Ave to West 4th Ave 8:30am to 12:00pm
W 4th Ave/W 6th Ave to Pine St to Cambie St 8:30am to 12:00pm
Cambie St at W Broadway to closed to all northbound traffic 7:30am to 12:00pm
Pacific Blvd: East bound exit ramp from Cambie Bridge 5:00am – 1:30pm
Pacific Blvd: Nelson St to Abbott St 5:00am – 1:30pm
Pacific Blvd: Abbott St to Quebec St 7:00am to 9:00am
Quebec and Carrall Sts: Closed to all traffic 7:30am to 9:00am near Expo Blvd and Pacific Blvd
Abbott St: Closed to all traffic 7:30am to 9:00am near Expo Blvd and Pacific Blvd
Expo Blvd: From Quebec St to Terry Fox Way 7:30am to 9:00am
Nelson St: Expo Blvd to Pacific to 7:30am to 9:00am
