Vancouver Sun Run 2013: Route and Road Closures
byThe Vancouver Sun Run, Canada’s largest 10km run since its inception in 1985, will see 50,000 participants taking to the streets of Vancouver on Sunday, April 21, 2013.
Competitive wheelchair participants will set out at 8:40am from Burrard and Georgia. 10km Sun Run participants will then begin a staggered/wave start at 9:00am.
Route
Starting along West Georgia as usual, runners and walkers will wind through Stanley Park, across the Burrard Bridge, through Fairview, and back downtown over the Cambie Bridge on the 10km Sun Run route.
The 2.5km Shaw Mini Marathon will start out at 777 Pacific at 8:00am, outside BC Place.
Getting There
While several bus routes will be re-routed during the run, the easiest way to the to the starting positions in the staging area is by taking the SkyTrain to Burrard Station or Granville, or the Canada Line to Vancouver City Centre. As a reminder, if you have a monthly fare card you can bring five other riders with you for free. A total of six riders is allowed: two adults (14 and older) and up to four children (13 and under) can ride on a single Adult FareCard, West Coast Express 28-day Pass, or Annual Employer Transit Pass.

Support for Boston
All participants are encouraged to wear blue and yellow to show support for the Boston Marathon and its participants who faced a tragedy earlier this week. Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, The Goonies) who is in town for Fan Expo will also be running on Sunday and wearing a Boston jersey to show support.
Results
The names and times of all finishers will be published in The Vancouver Sun newspaper on Monday, April 22, 2013. Online results will be posted later in the week.
