Pre-Blogstock Continued

Of course as people wake up from their drunken stupor, I mean… well-rested from a night of fun that involved no debauchery at all, more photos are appearing around the internet. Tony posted these ones recently, and I have to say they’re much better than some of my camera phone pics I posted earlier.

silly mmmmm stud.

We actually did talk blogs a lot at pre-blogstock. We discussed Blogger vs WordPress, stats programs, Flickr, Facebook, and the bloggiest Canadian female of all, Raymi.

Everyone Wants to Know

My #1 google searched post is about the potential new Vancouver Canucks jerseys [Miss604]. Well this week John was trolling the forums (wow those are REALLY interesting places btw) and found a supposed ‘leaked’ logo for our team.

Tossing even more fuel towards the flames, I thought I would chime in with the always interesting discussion about the new Canucks logo and jerseys that are going to be announced in the coming weeks. This I know based on what VP Chris Zimmerman said at the state of the franchise I attended with J.J.

…It was a reader who emailed this into J.J., so no one can be sure on its authenticity. However, as mentioned in his post, these colors within the logo match the current color scheme on Canucks.com. Does that mean anything? No one really knows… [Audihertz]

Vancouver Blog Profile: MJ Ankenman

Comments 3 by Rebecca Bollwitt

John and I actually met MJ in early 2006 at a Vancouver Podcast Meetup, it was so long ago in fact that the blog post I wrote about it is in my old Blogger format and looks really ugly – but I’ll link to it anyway [Miss604]. I think John’s actually had MJ’s business card handy ever since. She’s a realtor who’s been running a blog, Urbanista, for several years and is very in tune with the booming Vancouver real estate market.

While searching for my home, I became enthralled with real estate. I decided to become a Realtor and joined the RE/MAX Masters Realty team, based out of West Vancouver… …I also have a keen interest in technology, its impact on how business is conducted and how a society communicates. As a Realtor I am at the forefront of utilizing technology to sell real estate. [Urbanista]

Every now and then John will say “check this out”, turn me around in my chair and we’ll ooh and ahh over some amazing houses that we can’t afford but would love to some day. There’s more to MJ’s site than listings, she has a full blog where she lists open houses, helpful tidbits for homeowners (e.g. Property Taxes Due) and anything else of interest she wants to share with her readers.

100 Days of Summer

Instant blog posts are contained within the Tourism Vancouver “100 Days of Summer” guide. They have cheap thing, interesting sights, and fun for the whole family. Let’s see what they recommend today:

“July 28 – HSBC Celebration of Light – CANADA – FREE – Fireworks at English Bay. [Tourism Vancouver]”

Sweet, I can do free and fireworks (lord knows I have in the past) but I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it out tonight, for obvious reasons. The weather forecast looks a little gloomy but the chick on the news this morning said it won’t rain, but bring a ‘wind breaker’ to the beach if you do go check out the ‘works.

If anyone has any stories, blog posts, photos or YouTube videos of bunnies (that I can then send to Alanah) feel free to send them along if you have my email address, or do so view the comments or contact form. Thanks!

Prize for Pledges

Comments 1 by Rebecca Bollwitt

canadians tickets for blogathon prize I promised something… and here it is: We have tickets for the Vancouver Canadians game on August 4th, at Nat Bailey Stadium that I will give away to one lucky sponsor once this is all over tomorrow morning. Unfortunately this doesn’t really help those sponsors who pledged from out of town/country but I hope you’ll forgive me and my hyper-local prize. I’ll put everyone’s name in a hat (maybe even a Canadians hat) and make the draw – even though I’m sure 100% of you aren’t doing this for the prizes involved, I just thought I would give you a little something back aside from my appreciation, good karma, and that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you made a difference.

On August 4th the Vancouver Canadians baseball team takes on the Yakima Bears during “Mexico Night”, which was pretty fun last year when John and I attended. The Canadians are also fairly active in the community and have a season-long donation bin for the Vancouver Food Bank at all home games.
