Thanks so much to everyone who linked my blog, contributed, pledged, blogathoned along-side me, donated and offered kind words to keep me going.

Leftover Photowalk PicI will be doing the draw for Canadians tickets on Monday. I also think I’ll start a Facebook group tomorrow night called “I am going through Blogathon withdrawl“, cause I’m sure it will happen.

For now though, I need to get some sleep and be away from the computer for a while. It’s been fun folks, you’re the best – good night!

    Pepper Spray

    Comments 3 by Rebecca Bollwitt

This is it – one more to go after this! Just reading the “morning” news headlines and since I pretty much covered the fireworks and some of the post-firework hoopla in the podcast, here’s the ‘official’ word.

It was also another busy night for Vancouver Police. Constable Howard Chow says there were over 430 liquor incidents compared to 260 on Wednesday.

He adds there were six fight calls, seven weapons offences, everything from pepper spray to knives, 19 arrests and someone firing off some pepper spray. [News 1130]

And some people were getting a little crafty…

Constable Howard Chow says one man sprayed pepper spray into the air as peple were leaving through the west end. One group of people decided to try and out-smart police by hiding their booze in the waters of English Bay, but police spotted them and confiscated their liquor. [CKNW]

When we were walking back the other night someone tossed something onto the street from a balcony, it crashed into the middle of the road and although I never saw what it was, I’m glad no one was hurt. I like the fireworks, they are a part of summer, but there’s always ‘one of those people’ in the crowd that ruins it for a lot of people and heaven forbid, endangers others as well.

100 Days of Summer – Blogging

    Comments 3 by Rebecca Bollwitt

No, actually blogging is NOT on Tourism Vancouver’s 100 Days of Summer fun guide, although it should be – I’m having a BLAST! Okay, well I don’t have enough energy for full “blast” status right now… how about a hoot? Yes, I’m having a hoot.

July 30 – Cypress – Picnic in Cypress Provincial Park and enjoy the views of Vancouver, Mount Baker, the Gulf Islands, and Vancouver Island.

That’s a superb idea, I’ve never been to Cypress when it wasn’t snow-covered. 3,012 hectares for anything from hiking to a leisurely stroll. Being up there right now seems so appealing, maybe it’s because I haven’t left the house since 11 yesterday morning, that’s right…. yesterday hehe.

(Shout out to Travis Smith for the linkage and to Homemom3, OpenUp and Hummingbird604 – this is the home stretch!)

    Incandescent Gas

I’m just scooping this right from John’s blog because he played it a little while ago and I can’t get it out of my head. It’s educational. Very educational.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the band, They Might be Giants, you may recognize their song stylings from Tiny Toon Adventures‘ “Particle Man” and “Istanbul (not Constantinople)“. Man, that was a fun show. But more recently, they sing the Malcolm in the Middle theme as well.

    Photoshop Dupe

Alanah sent this over to me. I’ve seen a couple makeup transformations before, including the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty mini-movie but this one’s just fun AND it comes with an animated .gif!

It’s time for the big reveal for our unretouched cover-image contest, and, well, our winner is the July cover of Redbook, on which country singer Faith Hill (and, on a separate cover, her hubby Tim McGraw) appeared as beautiful and accessible-seeming as usual…[Jezebel.com]

…[Here is] a point-by-point annotation (read: close-ups!) of just what Redbook editors/art directors found so abhorrent about an already-above-average 39-year-old country music star and mom to three that they had to retouch her into something more befitting the cover of Cosmopolitan. [Jezebel]

I find myself mesmerized by this, I keep looking at it… it won’t stop. She looks normal, then she looks plastic. Then she looks normal… no wonder women have issues with their body image. There’s no personal in-home ‘photoshop’ kit you can apply to your body in the morning before work. If there is, please let me know, but until then – things like this are just kinda wrong.
