The Vancouver Diversity Health Fair returns for its 7th year as over 50 exhibitors gather to showcase health and wellness, presented in a number of languages including Cantonese, French, Korean, Vietnamese, Farsi, Punjabi, Spanish and Mandarin.

Taking place Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Croatian Cultural Centre from 10:00am until 3:00pm, the fair is absolutely free. Features of the event are free health screenings and onsite tests, healthy cooking demonstrations, interactive fitness workshops, multicultural entertainment, healthy kids activity zone, onsite translation services and prizes.

The Diversity Health Fair is presented by the Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of BC (AMSSA). “AMSSA is an affiliation of over 75 member agencies providing immigrant settlement and multicultural services in communities throughout British Columbia. We assist our members to better integrate immigrants into the labor force, counter hate and racist activities and promote cross cultural understanding.” has signed on as a sponsor of this event and to help get the word out, the organizers have put together a prize package to give away on my site.

    22. I am a German OT and new in Vancouver. I will definatelly be at the Health fare and hope to win the massage, since my back hurts from moving all my stuff from German/Mexico to Canada ๐Ÿ˜‰

      I have back and neck problems as well as arthritis so yoga and massage are both beneficial for me. The headband would be great to wear to hot yoga. I’ve had my work station at work assessed but it would be great to have my home station assessed.

      As a previous volunteer, I’ve seen how important it is to educate refugees and new immigrants on healthy eating and living in a new culture with different customs and foods.

      Offering information in so many languages increases accessibility, community-building, and health!
