Air New Zealand’s Coldest Canadian

Comments 4 by Rebecca Bollwitt

Air New Zealand recently launched a video contest to find the “Coldest Canadian” that they will reward with an all expenses paid trip to New Zealand (valid for up to a year from the end of the contest in March 2011).

So far, the only entry from Vancouver is from columnist and blogger Sean Horlor — I’m thinking his entry will look drastically different than those from back East.

There’s still plenty of time to put together your video before the deadline February 26, 2011. Register for an account on the Air New Zealand site to submit your video then promote your page. Videos are going up every day so the sooner you enter, the sooner you can begin getting votes. If you’re not interested in entering, you can still check the website for the latest videos and vote for your favourites.

To promote the video contest, I asked Air New Zealand if they could put together a prize pack for my readers. This includes a slick Air New Zealand travel bag and hat, the complete Lord of the Rings trilogy on Blu-Ray, and a bag full of branded boiled lollies.

I’ll run this as a Twitter-only contest so simply paste the following on Twitter to enter:

I entered to win an @AirNZCAD #ColdestCanadian prize pack from @Miss604 http://ow.ly/3XXkL

I will draw one winner from all Twitter entries at 12:00pm on February 22, 2011.

Update The winner is @ms_tfny, congratulations!

Why Twitter only? It seems unfair as not everybody who reads this tweets, but they all can obviously leave a comment.

Hi Susie, I have several types of contest entries usually, ranging from Twitter, Facebook, and comments to sometimes none of those and just having a private-entry contest box. For this one I decided just to go with Twitter as it’s a smaller contest and mainly to promote Air New Zealand’s video contest. Please check back for more multiple-entry contests in the future, I have some great ones lined up!

i feel the same way about facebook only contests as i don’t facebook so it just encourages people to eventually embrace these other parts of technology if you want to enter; i don’t do video either so having this alternative prize is nice; i’ve tweeted though
