Snowshoe Fondue with Cypress Mountain

Comments 273 by Rebecca Bollwitt

One of my favourite experiences last winter was snowshoeing through the Ancient Forest in Prince George and while I have yet to do this activity closer to home, I always hear people rave about the opportunities on the North Shore.

Snowshoeing in the Ancient Forest

Cypress Mountain offers a variety of snowshoeing experiences including the 4-hour Snowshoe Fondue Tour. Lead by an experienced guide, on this tour you will make your way through snow-dusted woods and sub-alpine meadows.

After working up an appetite, retire to Hollyburn Lodge to enjoy a mug of creamy hot chocolate or steaming spiced apple cider. Warm beverages are followed by a full fondue meal with salad and a cheese fondue with bread, steamed vegetables, and roast garlic potatoes. This is topped off with dessert consisting of a decadent chocolate fondue with fresh fruit and Angel Food cake.

      My favourite snow activity has to be setting up and starring in awesome xmas sweater photo shoots – without the snow background you can only achieve an 80% bad taste rating, which just isn’t high enough for me….!

    2. Stephanie WiriahardjaThursday, January 6th, 2011 — 1:33pm PST

      I’ve always wanted to go snowshoeing <3 <3

      I love snowboarding, and up until 2 years ago, that probably was my favourite snow activity. But then I discovered snowshoeing and because we can take our dog with us (on most trails), this is definitely my new favourite snow activity.

    5. Amy W.Thursday, January 6th, 2011 — 1:39pm PST

      My Favorite Snow activity would have to be Tubing however I have yet to go Snow Shoeing to know if I would enjoy that more. I have a feeling that if every Snow Shoeing experience ended in Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider and a Cheese Fondue it would no doubt be my all time favorite.

      I too will tweet about this Giveaway {@QueenEarlGrey}

      XOXO

    32. AngelaThursday, January 6th, 2011 — 2:59pm PST

      The first time I went snowshoeing was a race that my trainer had put me up to doing and it was an exhilerating experience. I would like to try it in a more casual atmosphere such as this. (My favorite snow activity though is to go sledding with the kids!)

    33. JodyThursday, January 6th, 2011 — 3:01pm PST

      I love to Barbeque in the snow – the condensation coming off that hot lil grill looks amazing! And of course, the eats are great. This is in Saskatchewan where winter means -20 to -40!! I’m taking a break from the cold and coming to the coast in 2 weeks and I’d love to go snowshoeing!

    34. Laura E.Thursday, January 6th, 2011 — 3:04pm PST

      Love, love, love snowshoeing. Have been trying to get hubby to join me to no avail but this would certainly do it! Thanks for the opportunity. Loved your blog and pics.
