Being a small-business owner (and someone who mostly does their own taxes) I certainly know the benefit of having the right software tools.       Sage has great, free, online versions of some of their tools, including Billing Boss, which allows you to create invoices online, send them, track them, and even have people pay them via paypal. You can check it out at http://www.billingboss.com/

      I could use an updated simply accounting version. I nearly switched to quickbooks because it’s online BUT the online version of quickbooks doesn’t support multiple currencies. I would like to see Simply moved to a hosted solution too. Would make my life easier.

      Good accounting software is something every small business should have straight from the get-go. But it can also be quite a task trying to find the best product. Not only is there the cost of purchase which can feel tough to justify in those initial days where funds are scarce, but there’s also the time it takes to learn and properly evaluate free trials that are available from most suppliers. And once you’ve been using a package for a while, it can be extremely difficult to switch if it doesn’t do something you need down the road.

      It’s nice to see an option made by a Canadian firm that seems to offer a wide range of features. This looks like a solid product and would definitely be worthy of consideration if you are planning on starting, or already have, your small business.

      I am an accountant, and have been using Simply Accounting since the early days when it was a DOS program called Bedford Accounting for my own use and for clients.

      It has grown and evolved over the years and developed into a very sophisticated and practical accounting system for many different kinds of businesses. It can be a bit complicated to first set up if you do not understand accounting, but once installed properly it is easy to use. It is constantly being enhanced and rivals much larger and more expensive software.

      I have yet to upgrade to the 2011 version, so winning this product would be great.
