2011 will have a tough act to follow after all of the excitement in Vancouver throughout the course of 2010. However, with the 125th anniversary of the city, new festivals, and more free events popping up on the radar, there will be plenty of dates to mark on your new calendar.
Speaking of which, I have had two calendar contest offers recently and decided to feature both as giveaways.
2011 Dreams for Women Calendar
The third annual Dreams for Women calendar showcases the moving expressions of twelve women from across Canada and around the world. The calendar has been compiled by The Antigone Foundation which has partnered with Women’s Worlds 2011 (WW 2011), a global women’s event.
“The women whose dreams comprise the 2011 calendar are all involved with WW 2011 in various ways. Many will be travelling to Ottawa-Gatineau to attend the landmark congress; one was instrumental in mounting the first Women’s Worlds gathering. All have contributed their “dreams for women†with personally designed art and words addressing issues as diverse as homelessness, the yearning for equality, the need for female leaders, and the desire for women to be judged by their merit. Powerful and often moving, the ‘dreams’ take note of how far women have come in overcoming barriers around the world… and how far there is yet to go.”
I Love Vancouver
The I Love Vancouver calendar is made up of about 6 images designed and printed locally in Richmond. Available in-store at Walrus on Cambie and 18th, this is a limited-edition and uniquely laid calendar that celebrates our city.
To enter to win one of these calendars, leave a general comment or simply state which calendar you would prefer in the comment section below. I will draw two winners on December 16th.
Update KarenSeq will get the Dreams for Women calendar and Michelle Williamson gets the I Love Vancouver calendar, congratulations!
