Comments 85

October is PowerSmart Month and I have partnered with BC Hydro over the last few weeks to bring you contests, rebate offers from local retailers, energy-saving tips, and event info. This week I’ll recap some of the events of the past month and promote the grand prize once again.

PowerSmart Deal of the Week
From October 21st until the 31st you can get $6 off select Energy Star specialty CFL bulbs at Rona.

PowerSmart Tip of the Week
Over the last month new tips and suggestions for being Power Smart have been posted and contributed. For week one I mentioned draft-proofing your home and got some great feedback in the comments. Week two was about recycling electronics through local outlets or manufacturers. Finally, week three talked about saving energy by turning off your lights, getting a timer, or using energy-efficient lightbulbs.

The Candlelight Conservation Dinner last Thursday also saw dozens of local restaurants switch the candle-only lighting in their dining rooms, which not only saved power but created intimate settings. You can try having your own candle-lit dinner at home these days as they would be perfect for adding ambiance or romance to your meal on a cold and rainy Vancouver evening.

This includes a Samsung 3D-Ready TV, Samsung 3D-Capable Blu-ray Player, a 3D Starter Kit (two pairs of 3D glasses & Monsters vs. Aliens 3D Blu-ray, and Geek Squad advanced setup install from Best Buy.
