Phoenix Suns to Play Toronto Raptors in Vancouver
bySeptember 29, 2010: This post has been promoted to the front page of Miss604 to announce the new contest. Details are below.
The Toronto Raptors are playing a pre-season exhibition game this fall hosting Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns. It will be exciting to see professional basketball return to Rogers Arena, which was originally the home of the Vancouver’s NBA team, the Grizzlies, back in the teal-covered 90s.
From CBC News: “The contest will also be a homecoming of sorts for Raptors head coach Jay Triano, who played his college basketball at Simon Fraser and later returned to coach there. And it will be an opportunity for Triano to face Nash, who Triano coached with Canada’s Olympic basketball program and formed a bond with… …Triano said the Raptors will start training camp in Toronto but the club expects to hold a portion of its pre-season preparations in B.C.”
The game will be played October 6, 2010 and if you’re looking for an excuse to grab a ticket and cheer on the Suns, Keira’s got 10 good reasons right here. Keira’s arguably the biggest Phoenix Suns fan you’ll find in Vancouver and as such, she’s already confirmed her presence at the game where she’ll be live-tweeting the action.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday, July 24th through Ticketmaster.
Update September 29th, 2010 Thanks to the folks at Movember and NBA Canada I have two tickets for the game to give away.
About Movember: The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember. Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for prostate cancer. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.
Here’s how you can enter to win the tickets:
I will draw one winner from comments and entries (received after this update) at 12:00pm Monday October 4th.
Update The winner is Ian Yeung – have fun at the game!

My mom is in LOVE with Steve Nash. It kinda grosses me out as I went to junior high with Steve and played basketball with him….She is 65. Let me take her to watch him play.
