Because knowing all the physics and chemistry in the world doesn’t take away from how beautiful and awe-inspiring they are.
Plus I like the loud ones.
i like the fireworks because of their lovely colours
The fireworks in Vancouver are a signature event and I am grateful they keep coming back. I try to go to all four shows!
What’s not to like about fireworks? They make us all feel like kids again!
For those of us who remember Expo 86 here in Vancouver will recall we had fireworks every night for six months and what a blast it was. Love the Celebration of Light because every one can get together and enjoy from all sorts of vantage points around the city. Let’s celebrate!
I love the fireworks! I love seeing this city come together to celebrate summer.
I love the fireworks because it’s a great way for people to spend time with family, friends and significant others. The Celebration of Light always evoke feelings of child-like wonder in me. It’s a very special summer event that I look forward to every year.
Fireworks are beautiful during a cool summer night.
I like the choreography of fireworks to different music.
For the last 7 years, my wife (girlfriend then) would tell me about the fireworks as her family go every year. This year I am here, and it appears that we can’t afford to go, so this contest would be a dream come true if I was to win.
I like trying to capture images of the bursts — a fun photography experiment. They’re beautiful!
I love the Celebration of Light fireworks because they are the best I’ve ever seen! Also its become such a Vancouver summer time institution. Would quite be summer without them
I love how the fireworks bring the people of Vancouver together to watch the spectacle and listen to the music!
@Alan It’s free to watch the fireworks from wherever you can spot them in the sky around Vancouver. You can try English Bay, Kits Beach, up on Cypress, from a restaurant or hotel, or just along the water’s edge.
I love the fireworks because it really is a celebration, and something to look forward to after work:)
I have enjoyed the fireworks since a kid. It is a highlight for me each summer with friends and family that marks a Vancouver tradition that brings back great memories and the opportunity to make more!
The fireworks are gorgeous!
I love the fireworks because they are a tradition in Vancouver. I remember as a teenager laying in the sand with friends all day just to see the show that night!!
Love how the whole city comes together to celebrate the summer!
Watching the fireworks maes for a great picnic date nite…esp if you find a spot (not in English Bay) where you get a bit more space for you & your date.
they’re purdy! 🙂
The celebration of light is what sold me when contemplating my move to Vancouver from Toronto. What a great way to bring people together and enjoy a live show on a beach in one of the best places to live on the planet. Thanks for this contest Miss 604, would love to enjoy it all over again!
Very cool giveaway!
I love them because I can see them from my balcony 😉
@Alan – Aye it’s free! Expect MASSIVE crowds though. I’ve seen them from Burrard Bridge, Kits Beach, Sunset Beach, English Bay, Cypress Mountain’s Lookout. You can also see them from SFU’s Burnaby Mountain.
Expect to deal with about 300,000 in English Bay alone though. If you have never been I do recommend checking out one of the weekday ones and plan to go early if you can.
Park downtown (like Waterfront area) and take the bus into English Bay (#5 or #6). Getting out of the downtown area can take upward to 2 hours though 🙂 Though if you stick to the lesser streets of the West End, the crowds aren’t as bad.
Fireworks transport me back to the awe of childhood, when bright lights and big booms were all I needed to feel completely happy.
I love the fireworks because it’s a chance to get out and enjoy a wonderful summer evening with amazing fireworks… with a million other people 🙂
I’ve always wanted to watch the fireworks from the Boathouse rooftop, but always figured it was for VIPs only.
It’s a tradition – I’ve been going with the same group of friends ever since highschool.
I l<3ve the fireworks because it's an excuse to spend the entire day on the beach, sipping coolers and camping out with a good viewing spot!
I love how comfortable Vancouverites are squishing together on the beach to all enjoy the beautiful show together!! The massive crowds add to the excitement!!
I love the fireworks because it has become an annual tradition for me. It makes for a great excuse to get away from school/work/life and to just enjoy a great day at the beach followed by a spectacular explosion of colour. Summer in Vancouver isn’t quite summer without the annual fireworks =)
I actually don’t love the fireworks. But my 5-year-old absolutely *loves* fireworks and keeps asking about them. So I want to take him. And this sounds like a perfect way to do that.
I’ve never watched the fireworks from the bathhouse (I usually watch from a friends place, in Kits). This sounds great.
i love crowds, and i love how the fireworks light up the vancouver sky. English bay is a great place to watch it!
Considering that I leave in the area, it’d be a shame to miss the fireworks but can’t bring myself to embracing the crowds!
I love the fireworks! It’s a Vancouver tradition – my family picks a date (one of the Saturdays) to have a picnic and relax all day before taking in the fireworks at night.
Fireworks are one of the few things that I still love from my childhood. They just make me smile!
I love the fireworks, because of all the gorgeous popping/exploding colors! It’s like wathcing an unfolding/evolving art piece in the sky. So very cool.
Watching from a prime location would be even cooler!
I go to the fireworks every year, but have never spent money doing so, I just sit on the beach and enjoy the show. I’d love to make a night of it with food and drinks.
It is a Vancouver institution. I love it and have gone every year since I was a kid.
Nothing beats a night of good food & even better entertainment 😀
I would love to win omg it be nice not to try and walk through the crowd of people this time
I love the combination of the music and the fireworks!!
Fireworks are the best thing about summer!besides the beach of course.
Because it’s one of the most romantic events I’ve ever attended.
Well they’re pretty freaking awesome to look at, but the best bit is the thousands of people all standing around staring at the sky and saying “oooooooo” in unison. I love that 🙂
vancouver isnt the same without the fireworks… !!
I love to watch the fireworks because they always remind me of summer.
It’s a tradition among friends to go to the fireworks. I remember going when I was still in grade school!
I love the fireworks because you can hang out with your friends outdoor by the beach.
I love how they bring the city together 🙂 they are just a sign of summer!
I love fireworks because they are another great activity to enjoy outdoors!
Such a beautiful and romantic thing to watch!
It has been a tradition to watch them each year. I love the pretty lights in the sky!
I have never seen the fireworks but my boyfriend raves about them. I’d love the chance to see them in style the first time I see them. It seems like a fantastic evening.
Hope my girlfriend and I win!!!
Hope I win..
fireworks remind me of that line in Aladdin when he and Jasmine are sitting on the rooftop and she says “it’s all so magical” 🙂
I like how the crowd goes ahhh, at the really big ones.
I like to see the diversity of pyro-technical talent from different countries.
I love the Celebration of Lights, they are a major part of the sumkmer in Vacncouver and I am glad that we still have the competition as there has been talk in the past of it being cancelled. The contestants do such an amazing job each year and it is one of my favorite parts of summer!
I love the fireworks because they’re on my birthday this year!! Sat July 31st. What better way to celebrate than spend time with friends and see the fireworks! Even better would be VIP seating!!!! 🙂
What’s not to love about fireworks in Vancouver? Great weather (usually, anyway), great atmosphere, and great beaches to enjoy it all on.
It brings together people of all walks of life. The streets are shut down and we all come together as a community; there’s excitement in the air and a common purpose. It’s very envigorating!
Because it wouldn’t be summer in Vancouver without a nice evening by the beach with happy crowds and a beautiful display.
I love that the fireworks have been a Vancouver staple for so long and it makes (most) people that attend happy!
I love going to the fireworks, being by the beach, having the corresponding music with the fireworks.
It’s a beautiful tradition that I’ve participated in for years. Plus, trudging through the intense crowds afterwards is preparation for the zombie apocalypse! 🙂
Because watching them feels like a collective memory. Especially when you’re at English Bay with thousands of other people just as excited as you!
[…] on the post about why you love the […]
The fireworks have been a summer tradition in Vancouver for so many years. Viewing them from such a prime location would make it even more special.
Because it reduces you to child-like magic every time 😀
I love the Celebration of Light fireworks because when they were going to be cancelled due to a lack of funding last year Vancouverites were passionate about having the show go on and new sponsors saved the long standing tradition!
I have such fond memories of this time of year, as the fireworks were on when I first moved to Canada in 2006!
I love the fireworks because they are dazzling and amazing.
I love knowing that everyone else in the city is looking at the same thing that I’m looking at.
I proposed under a canopy of fireworks!

I love fireworks. It reminds me of my childhood and spending time with my parents.
i love the busy summer nights of the fireworks and hanging out with friends 🙂
There aren’t a lot of things that bring such a wide range of people together. The fireworks are a fantastic time to hang out with fellow Vancouverites and enjoy the spectacle, the evening and each other.
I love the Celebration of Light fireworks because they bring together an already multicultural city to show the audience even more about different cultures and their ways of celebrating. Plus, they’re really pretty and exciting!
I like the fireworks because it’s a festive event and gets everyone outside!
Flashing lights and epic music enthrall me. Having all of my friends out together while we wait for the show to start–equally a great moment. 🙂
I love the contrast of the sparkly fireworks against the dark night sky. 🙂
I love how the fireworks brings people together, it’s a great community event!
The anticipation is fantastic. Count me in!
It is such a great community event!!!!
Fireworks brings me back memories of when I was in my teen years 🙂
fireworks are a beautiful way to light up the night sky.
I love watching Celebration of Light every year because it’s a great summer event that’s perfect for the whole community!
The fireworks in van are my favorite part of the summer…if not of the whole year! They just make me smile, bring back good memories and offer another chance to make even more great summer memories in van! 🙂
Last year’s fireworks by South Africa was my first after moving from Texas last spring. Being from the land where “bigger is better”…it doesn’t get much better than fireworks over English Bay with the city, forest & mountains all around. It was the first night I fell in love with Vancouver 🙂
I love the celebration of lights because it is a inexpensive romantic night out for me and my boyfriend, a night which is always very special for us. 🙂
I love fireworks! It’s a Vancouver tradition 🙂
Because of all the pretty colours!
It wouldn’t be a Vancouver summer without heading down to English Bay for the fireworks!
Fireworks is not only enjoyable and something to look forward to every year, it is something Vancouver is known for! It brings the whole city TOGETHER. I mean look at the amount of people that attend each year! 🙂
I love the fireworks… It’s very nostalgic for me. I used to go as a teenager with my friends. We’d sit on the beach at English Bay all day to save our spot. Good memories!
One of my earliest dates with my boyfriend was at the fireworks, four years ago. We’ve gone every year since, even though I panic in crowds!
I’m going regardless of whether I win because it’s always a great time down at English Bay during fireworks.
The buzz on the beach for pretty much the entire day is awesome… there’s usually so much going on, and then to have the fireworks as the finale!
It’s a Vancouver summer staple and never disappoints!
Great scenery, and also a great way to bring people together and enjoy what Vancouver has to offer !
A Vancouver summer tradition, so glad they were able to have it again this year. I love watching little kids absolutely mesmerized by the display, jaws agape, eyes wide ….
I love how everyone comes together to watch it! It feels like a tradition since I’ve watched them every year since I was a child.
What’s not to love? The beautiful fireworks, the atmosphere, it’s a great event that brings ppl together.
I love the fireworks because it brings the city together and also because it’s another fun activity to do in the summer!
Could there be a better setting to meet a new boyfriend? I don’t think so!
I love fireworks for the variety and how you can get lost in your own world from watching them
Woo hoo! fireworks!
Love the way it brings everyone out to Vancouver’s beautiful beaches to watch the gorgeous fireworks displays.
I love fireworks, always have; the fact that my mom always worried I would blow my hands off just made them cooler. 😉
The fireworks was one of the “things” we did when I first visited Vancouver. We were gifted a fireworks-dinner cruise for my birthday- was a spectacular way to see the fireworks. There something about the sparks, colors and light it evokes happiness.
I love the fireworks! It makes me feel like a kid, getting excited about flashing lights and the fact that there are thousands of people all looking up in the sky at the same time. EPIC.
I love the fireworks because there are so many people sitting on the beach oohing and aahing at the same colors, light and sparks!
I love the fireworks because to me they represent summer in Vancouver. A whole lot of people coming together for a good time.
the memories and the way they bring people together!
Excellent. Vancouver and fireworks, in the summer!
I love the fireworks because the whole city comes together!
Its one of my favorite annual events in Vancouver … I love how the city comes together to make it such a successful & fun event!
This year it is all about the Latin American fireworks – Viva Mexico y España!!!!!
It’s incredible to see so many people out watching the same thing
Fireworks >>> vuvuzelas.
I love the fireworks because there’s nothing quite like hearing 200,000 + people all saying “Ahhhh” at the same time. I live in the West End and love seeing so many happy people in my neighbourhood!
fireworks are a great way to spend time with friends and family on a nice summer night!
Cause fireworks are just cool!
omg 119 comments i imagine there is at least that many via twitter; tough competition but i’ll throw my hat in the ring
our small firework business would really appreciate hobnobbing with other firwork people for advice and advertising
I love the fireworks because for those few evenings in the summer the streets near English bay feel like a completely different city completely maxed out with people. Perhaps… Tokyo.
i love the fireworks because the look on my sons face is priceless! its the only few moments of the year where he stays still:)
I love how in awe everyone becomes at the fireworks. It’s amazing that.
I love how the whole city piles into the westend.
Seeing the huge fireworks make me feel like a carefree kid again!
The fireworks remind me of my first summer in Canada after we immigrated. It was awe-inspiring and represents for me the wonder and possibility made available to me every day in this beautiful place.
i love Vancouver’s summer atmosphere by the beach.
I love fireworks because my kids love it
I remember going to the fireworks as a child with my family and making a whole day of it. We would start off at English Bay and take a water taxi across to Granville Island to get lunch from the Market and then come back and eat it in English Bay, followed by kite flying and various other activities. I’m so happy that they are still around so I am able to share these experiences and make new memories with my son 🙂
I love the fireworks! They unite the city!
Ive seen the fireworks for at least 5 years already, everything i am amazed at the display of lights from the fireworks. Every time I enjoyed it with my family. I love the Celebration of Lights, I never miss it!
The fireworks is a summertime tradition in Vancouver. I love the crowds, seeing all types of people gathering to share in a great experience, hearing all the oohs and aahs!
Who doesn’t love explosions?
Great giveaway! I’ve always loved the fireworks in Vancouver but ever since last year, it’s been a reminder of my relationship with my boyfriend. We spent our second date on Denman street getting sushi for dinner and having dessert at Dulcinea while waiting for the fireworks, and it was an amazing evening, so I’ll always feel a bit nostalgic about it. And I think we’ll enjoy the fireworks together every year from here on out!
Fireworks are one of those magical medium that touches everyone’s attention and fascination! =)
Celebration of Light is one of my first memories of Vancouver. I has just moved to Canada and was living in Victoria at the time. My boyfriend’s parents took us over to the mainland and down to English Bay. I had never seen so many people in one place with one goal – to see this amazing spectacle. The thousands of people walking up Davie St. afterwards was incredible to experience.
fireworks always mean it’s summertime in vancouver!
I love the Fireworks because my dad used to take me every year as a girl, now that he is gone when I watch the fireworks I feel like he is near and watching with me
I love the imagination of the fireworks and seeing if I can spot any new ones each year.
After five summers in Montreal, with its fireworks spectacles, I can’t wait to see what Vancouver has to offer!

I love firework because I am aways wow-ed. Its lways something new and different!!!
I like fireworks since you generally watch them in a large group of people and there is something powerful about experiencing something beautiful at the same time as so many others.
I always love the Fireworks music. 🙂
I love watching the fireworks but I’m not fond of the crowds so this would be perfect 🙂
I love seeing everyone converge on the West End to watch them!
Fireworks in Vancouver is having a hard time getting sponsors. I’m not rich enough to be a sponsor but wee should support our city by attending the shows. Horay!
Because it’s not summer without the Celebration of Light! World class fireworks, great music, and hundreds of thousands of your neighbours on the beach!
i love the experience of being surrounded by so many great people and being able to watch it
Happiness*Excitment*Shocked*Awe*Breathtaking*anxious*relaxation*Fun* Thrilling*Beautiful*Romantic* =)Please pick me=)
I love the excitement in the air.
I love the new types of fireworks used every year.
Explosions set to music. That’s really all there is to say about it! Brilliant.
I remember being a kid and staying late to get to go down and see the fireworks. It’s this amazing show that is designed by people who just like to blow stuff up. No two firework shows are alike and even when mixed and designed but a vetrian pro, they will never be 100% predictable.
Fireworks rock cause I an people watch for hours before the grand finale!
Because watching things explode is cool!
Exploding things to music is just plain awesome!
The fireworks are great because you can spend time at the beach, enjoy company, and watch things explode 🙂
Cool, would be great to go!! I love watching the fireworks because of that feeling you get when they explode and you’re really close to them.
It’s part of West End summer! Definitely worth taking your out-of-town guests to!
Fireworks are just so amazing and they remind me of my misspent youth and my first love…..
Fireworks is just so mesmerizing! pick me, please!!!
I love fireworks… they’re so pretty! Combined with music, it’s definitely a sight to see 🙂
I love all the colours and the oooh-aaah sound people make when there is a nice explosion.
See Celebration of light fireworks every year, just because Im a fireworks lover. pick me:)
I love the fireworks because it shows how spectacular and beautiful Vancouver can be at night.
I love watching the fireworks at English Bay and feeling like the brilliant colours will just rain down on everyone at the beach.
I like the boom boom.
I love the fireworks because it brings back some great childhood memories when my parents took me to watch them. It was one of the rare and exciting times when I would be out on the street so late at night.
I like the music and fireworks combination. I worked at the boathouse during one summer and got to serve people on the patio as they were watching the fireworks. It would be nice to be the one sitting down and served to this time. 🙂
Love going to the fireworks, a Vancouver tradition! Maybe this year I’ll take pictures. Would love to win this prize instead of dodging people at the park.
I love the Celebration of Lights!! Back in the day when they were still sponsored by the cigarette companies, my friends and I would go to La Ronde in Montreal and lay on the grass to watch that city’s participation in the competition. They are always so amazing, even when they’re not the winners! Now, my first summer in Vancouver and I am excited to see how this city does the festival – what a perfect start to my new life here to win this contest!!
It looks like we are going to have great weather for this event! Can’t wait!!
It’s exciting to see the sky light up with color!
I saw last year’s celebration of light and it was amazing!
Fireworks are an amazing celebration of special events! They are beautiful and bring people together.
I love the fireworks because nothing says “Summer in Vancouver” like them. I love watching the fireworks – but I also love looking down the beach and seeing hundreds of thousands of people lit up by the sky!
I’m so excited to see the fireworks every year!
I am going to wear my Japanese Kimono which called ‘Yukata’,
and I will enjoy this summer!!
I love the Celebration of Light! I love how the city comes together and comes out to see it every year. Makes our city so special!
I love fireworks! It would be an awesome evening to enjoy with friends.
Fireworks are explosively fun!!!
Love the fireworks because it’s something I can’t do in my own backyard!!!
I love the fireworks, because I love going downtown with all my friends to enjoy them.
i love the fireworks because every color of the fireworks to me means a different meaning. The colors are just so vibrant and pretty and when I see them it just makes me so happy.
Romantic! Sitting with your favorite guy taking in the beauty of the fireworks
It’s amazing and mesmerizing to watch. Having a great seat to enjoy a fabulous meal, watch the concert and show just makes a perfect summer evening!
I love how excited my son is to stay up way past his bedtime and go out AT NIGHT to see the fireworks. His wonder and excitement make it worth braving the crowds.
The Olympics where amazing with fireworks every night! I can’t wait for the night sky to light up again with everyone just gazing in awe.
The fireworks, are what defines a Vancouver summer, good crowd, fun times, plenty of memories, and more to be made. Plus being able to physically feel them is pretty cool.
Fireworks make me look at the night with child-like wonder and remind me of past celebrations.
I love the fireworks because of the community atmosphere and the awe that it creates.
i love fireworks
forgot to mention, i like fireworks because i like to see all the explosion and light in the sky… it’s fun to watch!
Because I have never seen them up close and would love to see them as they were designed to be seen.
Good luck to everyone. Hope whoever wins has a wonderful time @ the fireworks!! And If you don’t win, I stIll hope you have a chance to enjoy the evening and the fireworks.
fireworks!
There is nothing more spectacular than sitting in English Bay – with the silhouettes of the crowd, boats, mountains and skyline and watching the skies light up. So many people are so jaded and stay away because of the crowds. They need to give their heads a shake and witness the spectacular beauty of the entire scene.
The calculations that go into each shot to time them to the music is pretty amazing!
we so rarely get a huge fireworks show in Vancouver, so it’s always great to see, plus it has great music to go along with it!
Why wouldn’t I love the fireworks? They’re just amazing!
Oh yeah enter me please, and yes I will retweet…….
Cross fingers…..
It’s the best part of summer: warm evenings, community party, not expensive. Yay!!!!
I love the fireworks cause I love the energy of the crowds and the shows are always amazing.
Tripod + bulb setting on camera makes for great shots.
Ya fireworks!
Fireworks remind me childhood – It’s just amazing!
I love fireworks b/c they are so pretty 🙂
Best thing about the fireworks? Definitely has to be the deep *BOOM! pop pop pop pop!* sound that reverberates through your body. Of course I love the colours and the lights, but it’s that sound and the vibrations that make the fireworks experience so incredible!
Specially planned a week’s tour to finish in Vancouver for the last night’s spectacular firework display!
How lucky we are in Vancouver, not only to celebrate our own cultural diversity, but to celebrate the diversity of the world and play host to the Nations of the World who join us in this Celebration of Light. Our celebration of these nations in such a beautiful display is why I love these fireworks.
I just think it is amazing that the same materials used to create weapons can be turned into such a colourful and wonderful light and sound show.
i have been going to the fireworks for 19 years and always in the same spot ( to the left of the boathouse ) in the park….someday maybe i can watch them from the boathouse ::) my family and i are totally in love with this event every year it gives us something to be excited about and to meet up with all other vanocouverites !! we meet new people every year its so awesome !!BOOM BOOM PRETTY LIGHTS 🙂
a great way to cool off 😀 boom boom pow!
I love watching the fireworks over the best backdrop around.
I like things that go boom in the night
I love fireworks because they’re sensationally pretty, but not half as tasty as BBQ.
I like the celebration of light because me and my sexy girl shared an unbelievable romantic kiss that changed our lives.
I love the fireworks because I have created my own tradition since it had started. Every year I have enjoyed the viewing of the fireworks and every year, the group has grown more (friends). Now that I have children, I now share this tradition with them. Its a great time to get together with old friends and family, and great excuse for my kids to have a late night.
It’s an event that can be enjoyed by the whole family!
Fireworks are fireworks (and they’re great) but the atmosphere is what makes it a fun night.
…because sometimes you need to stop wondering how they ‘do it’…and just sit and enjoy the show.
I love fireworks because it’s something that my son and I enjoy together. We have yet to see the Celebration of Lights but hope that one way or another we get to see them this year – and if we could see them in “prime viewing seats”, it would be that much better!!!
I love the fireworks because they reduce all of us to a state of childlike wonder 🙂
Fireworks are a Vancouver summer classic! Always beautiful and fun.
Love the fireworks. Vancouver goes nuts as well!
how can anyone not love fireworks?! They always put me in a good mood… a great fireworks display just makes everyone happy!
What an awesome prize!
I hope I win!
I marvel at how the fireworks entrance the masses – what is it about them that make us so excited? I think it’s because someone is creating this spectacular light show up in the sky and it looks so pretty 😀
The yearly fireworks gives you the feeling of being on a holiday in your own city! It’s a festival of joy for all those who attend, while capturing fantastic visuals, of lights and action! It’s a chance for even those on a forced budget to partake in city fun! That’s why we love the fireworks!
I love the fireworks because they make me feel like entering the fairyland ^_^
I love the fireworks because no matter how I’m feeling, or what’s going on in my life… when the fireworks start, everything seems okay and I become peacefully happy. The fireworks are completely mesmerizing. Sometimes getting to the fireworks can be stressful, trying to get there in time, traffic closures, the huge crowds of people, but the stress just melts away when the fireworks start. No matter what has happened before the fireworks start, all that I can focus on once they start is how beautiful they are. The fireworks also remind me of family because until my mid-teens I would always go to see them with my parents and my brother. So, seeing the fireworks reminds me of those early memories and my heart fills up with love.
Because I get to snuggle up with my boyfriend and watch it brighten the sky.
The fireworks themselves are stunning, but the topper for me is hearing everyone around me oooh, and ahhhh!
I love the fireworks because they bring people from all over vancouver together! It’s just a fun time for all and having it free is a major bonus 🙂
I’ve never been!
It’s sad, but I’ve never been able to make it, so I’d love to go!
The fireworks to me are a quintessential part of summer. I remember as a kid when we lived out in the Valley it was an all day affair for my aunts, my mom, my cousins and me to load up our vehicles and secure a prime viewing spot on the beach.
We parked far away and walked for what seemed like never ending blocks. Once we had picked the perfect spot we sat, waited, laughed and kept each other entertained until the show started.
Looking back, those family memories are what makes the fireworks so exciting for me. Many years older now I look forward to making firework memories with my own children one day.
Because it brings out a huge crowd!
I love the feeling of celebration
I would love to have this – fireworks warm my heart 🙂
Oooh, pretty lights going boom. My fave!
Because I love that everyone around me is feeling the exact same thing as me looking up at those fireworks! Camaraderie at its best!
I love the fireworks because no one from outside Vancouver understands why 500,000 people would crowd onto the beaches four nights a year to watch them.
I have never seen the Vancouver fireworks before! Hoping to go this year…
I love the fireworks because there’s a great feeling being out there in the summer air, sharing such a fantastic event with so many fellow Vancouverites. We’ve avoided it for the last few years because of the hassle and craziness (especially with two little ones), but this would make an amazing night out for just hubby and I…we’re celebrating our 14th anniversary on July 27th so what a great anniversary gift it would be!
Fireworks + a beautiful Vancouver evening = summer. There is no place like it!!
Maybe my first trip down to see the fireworks?
Firework + an outstanding Vancouver evening = SUMMER!
I love that the fireworks bring Vancouverites together. We need more of this kind of stuff!!
Very pretty! (:
I feel like a kid again looking up and enjoying the spectacular fireworks and hearing the thunderous bangs.
Nostalgic!! I remember taking my wee boys for a day at 2nd beach and staying for the fireworks at night. Now they’re grown young man and off with their lady friends to watch the fireworks without their lovin Mama! Sweet memories of those wonderful days, plus I have a fireworks addiction 😉
I loved it! First time there, as I live out of province. How many people watched it live?
Love the fireworks because it has been Vancouver’s summer tradition over the years. Great crowd, (usually) great weather, and it’s always an enjoyable time 🙂
Haven’t gone this year because of the crowds-this sounds amazing!
I like fireworks because they are in vancouver, and i love vancouver, sometimes known by my friends and I as man-couver.
I love fireworks because you never know what will be coming next.
I like the fireworks b/c they’re always a great way to end an evening and make it special.
I just marvel at the multicolour spectacle of the fireworks thats why I love to watch them.
I like watching money go up in smoke
bringing people together to celebrate and share something beautiful and rare. An experience to echo in our memories through time. Colour, lights, thunder, stars, music, community. The fireworks are a jewel in Vancouver’s summer.
Would love to spend it with my 5-year-old daughter.
Love the fireworks because it’s the biggest competition in the world 🙂
Honestly, I think they’re a bit of a downer. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fantastic to see the city come together like this in my neighborhood, but the douchbaggery once the crowds disperse is nuts and Fireworks are a huge environmental mess. So I guess the part I love, is that they seem to make everyone else so happy.
My mother in law is visiting from Ottawa and loves fireworks. It is her birthday on July 31st and I would love to take her to the show in style.
Fireworks are a great way to end the day in the world’s most beautiful city.
Well in reference to fireworks in general, they are made by the chinese (i’m chinese), and they are magical.
In reference to the Celebration of Light, well these Fireworks are a Vancouver tradition. I have been watching them ever since I was a little kid.
Like to take my wife of 19 years to the best spot in Vancouver and have a little firework kissing while listening to the music.
Relaxing on the grass!
I love the fireworks because it gets me out of the Tri-Cities and into the hustle and bustle of downtown Van.
fun..fireworks make us all feel like kids..oooh,aaaah
I love going to the beach with a picnic for the fireworks. It is the best place to people watch!
I have loved fireworks from my childhood, growing up in the USA, and celebrating the 4th of July. After moving to Canada, I rekindled my love of fireworks with the Sea Festival events in the 70’s which morphed into the Benson and Hedges “Symphony of Fire” in the 80’s-90’s and now the Celebration of Light. I have a passion for photographing the fireworks with a time tested technique. I will be revealing this technique in a up and comming blog on pyrotecknics and my fireworks photographs. I have been photographing fireworks presentations for over 20 years. I plan to unfold a exhibition of my pyrotechnic art in the comming year. This exhibition will be a retrospective of my years of documentation of the various fireworks companies from the countrys presenting in the fireworks competitions.
I love going to the beach for fireworks. The combination of fireworks and music is so magical
I love thinking about the fireworks while I’m at home with my two year old son and husband, dreaming about a hard to come by evening out on the town.
I love to hear the crowd say “Ah…Oh.. wow” and clap without being expected to.
Helloooooo Me Pls.
Just the chance to escape the marijuana and beer crowd is exciting …
I love the fireworks, always have. The creativity, spending time with friends and family and the ‘wow’ factor!
I love the fireworks because the combination of light and sound is music to the senses.
Combine that with the actual music, and I enjoy them all the more.
This would be an experience of a life time…. wow so close instead of so far away
I love the fireworks because they’re so mind blowing…they’re gorgeous and so much fun to watch – great excuse to get the friends together and have a bbq at the beach too 🙂
It gives me goose bumps to watch such beautiful displays of lights with BANG!
I love to celebrate Vancouver this way!
I’ve seen the first two displays and do not want to miss the finale. It would be a great bonus to see the finale from a prime viewing area.
i love the fireworks because they remind me to call my parents and tell them i love them for taking me to the fireworks when they were a safe, community-based event. i love the fireworks because they remind me of a better time when people left the hate at home. i love the fireworks because they remind me how much i love staying home and having a beer rather than fighting the crowds and dodging broken glass on the street while steering clear of putzes and tramps.
i love the fireworks because it’s crazy packed with people and the show is guaranteed to be beautiful- it’s crazy beautiful!
Because it brings together the biggest crowds of the summer!
Would definitely be a memorable experience for my fiance and I!
It reminds me of how fortunate we are to live in such a fabulous City and Country. Yes, oh to be Canadian – eh!!
i love shiny things.
What a thrill it would be to really be able to see the fireworks!!!!
Thanks for these great contests. Many of us would never be able to afford the price or have the connections and so on the be in the right place at the right time. Thanks for giving ordinary people a chance.
This would probably be the only way to take my daughter to the fireworks.
Sounds odd, but I love the fireworks simply because I can see them so well. I am partially sighted and because the fireworks are so bright, colourful and big, they stand out so well so I can fully enjoy them.
I love fireworks and this would be my first year!
I look forward to the fireworks every year. Summer is not the same in Vancouver without our yearly celebration of lights!.
I love fireworks – the colours, the sounds …. but I’ve been chicken to go downtown & see them for 2 years now!! But a comfy place to view them would make all the difference!
Not to sound overly melodramatic, but watching the fireworks is a positively emotional experience for me. Something about the constant glimmer of hope in the night sky and the tragically beautiful music tell me that my dad will make it through cancer… that my friend did not die in vain from the unfortunate car crash… that life (and death) is going to be okay in the end… and that love does ultimately prevail. It would be nice to watch the fireworks without a group of young teenagers directly behind me shouting “SH-BAM!” every time one went off (Really, no exaggeration! This was my experience last week, LOL!!).
…because this would be the perfect way to propose to my girlfriend of 3 years.
there is nothing quite so magical as watching an explosion of lights over the most beautiful Bay in the world.
I love the fireworks because its romantic!
sounds so fun!
Love to see it from that vantage point.
Watching the fireworks has become a tradition for me since moving here from the prairies. Last year’s fireworks were even more meaningful as my family from out east watched them with me. Look forward to making new memories this year.
I smoked for quite a while. I recognize it damages my health and so I must stop smoking however it has been difficult. None of the stopping products did the trick. Then I saw the e-cigarette. It has practically changed my life. No more breathing cancerous substances feels stupendous!
