The Arts Club Theatre presents Glengarry Glen Ross, now on stage at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Theatre until August 22nd.
Tough times call for tough measures in a Chicago real-estate office. In this cutthroat world, four hungry, backstabbing salesmen peddle questionable investments in a contest to become top dog. Slumping sales? Can’t close the deal? You’re fired! This is David Mamet’s explosive masterpiece of workplace power struggles gone awry.
Eric McCormack (from TV’s Will & Grace) is heading up the talented cast, shining a bigger-than-usual spotlight on the production. The Canadian-born actor started off in theatre and after moving to Hollywood he has appeared in countless television and feature film productions. Since Will & Grace McCormack has stayed on both the big and small screens while also performing on stages from New York to California. In June of 2010 he received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame.
Glengarry Glen Ross has a powerful ensemble cast (John Pyper Ferguson, Gerard Plunkett, Vincent Gale, Eric McCormack, Brian Markinson, Bart Anderson) and a hard-hitting message.
“If timing is everything then Glengarry is one of those remarkably prescient pieces of work. When it first landed on the stage at the National Theatre in London in 1983, a recession was hitting. Today this remounting is coming at a time when a lot of the world is facing record high unemployment and corporations and banks have had their dirty deeds hung out on the line for all to see.” [The Province]
