First Weekend Club: Year of the Carnivore
byThe First Weekend Club’s Canada Screens series will host a special screening of Sook-Yin Lee’s Year of the Carnivore at the District 319 theatre.
Sook-yin Lee‘s “Year of the Carnivore” is a quirky romantic comedy with an unexpected twist. Having written, directed and even composed much of the soundtrack for the film, “Year of the Carnivore” is clearly a showcase of Lee’s talents, which earned the film its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year.
The film stars Ali Liebert, along with comedians Will Sasso and Kevin McDonald. You can view a trailer on YouTube here (caution: it contains mature themes).
The event will take place Thursday June 17th at 6:30pm (with the film opening in Vancouver and Toronto on the 18th). There will be a pre-show wine reception with live music and another party following the screening. Tickets are $15 if purchased in advance online from the First Weekend Club.
Boneta in Gastown also offers a “Dinner & a Movie” deal to those attending First Weekend Club events. Stop by before the screening to enjoy 15% off your meal. Bring your ticket printout or confirmation in order to take part in this deal or use the keyword “Carnivore” when you arrive.
I have a pair of tickets to give away for the special screening event on the 17th, here’s how to enter to win:
I will draw the winner at random from all entries Thursday June 10th.
Update The winner is Tazim (@BeingTazim). Have fun at the movie & the First Weekend Club!
Update Tazim is unable to attend so I have drawn another winner, congratulations Lisa (@lisahemingway)!
