Bard on the Beach: Much Ado About Nothing
byBard on the Beach has returned this summer to once again present top-notch performances in Vancouver’s most stunning setting. Starting June 12, Much Ado About Nothing will take to the main stage to open up the season.
Romance and matchmaking abound when the men return victorious from war. While friends devise merry plots to trick the fiercely independent Beatrice and Benedick into admitting their love for each other, Hero and Claudio make idealistic wedding plans. Into this world of courtship, light-hearted mischief and wit, Shakespeare places Don John, a “plain-dealing villain.†Isolated from the fun, he is determined to destroy it. Relieving tensions are the hilarious constable and his watch and, in the end, it is bumbling Constable Dogberry who saves the day…
I have two reserved-seat tickets for the 8:00pm performance on Saturday June 26th to give away. My winner will also receive a picnic meal for two from Emelle’s (official caterer of Bard on the Beach) and a prize pack from the Bard on the Beach gift shop.
Here’s how you can enter to win this prize:
I will draw the winner Friday June 18th, 2010.
The 2010 Bard on the Beach season includes: Much Ado About Nothing, Antony and Cleopatra, Falstaff (Henry IV, I & II), Henry V, and Operas and Arias with La Boheme.
Update June 11, 2010 I interviewed Artistic Director Christopher Gaze this morning for TVWeek Online.
Update June 18, 2010 I have drawn the winner at random and it is Diane, congratulations and have a great time!

A summer evening at Bard on the Beach is one of the great Vancouver experiences – watching the sun set as the stage’s backdrop is a wonder. Hope to win.

Hi,
I’d like to win this amazing bard on the beach prize!
My sister is coming to visit from Ontario and she’s never been exposed to the fine arts; I would love to take her to one of the Bard’s plays when she comes this summer. It’d be such a wonderful treat for a sixteen year old.
Thanks,
Disha

Sweet! It isn’t summer without Bard. We always make sure to catch at least one performance. Two is better! Last year’s Othello was spectacular. And love Christopher!

The Vancouver skyline is such a gorgeous backdrop to Bard on the Beach. The twilight performances are the best with the sunsets!
Many people are intimidated by Shakespearean English but after about 10 minutes you don’t even notice the “accents” anymore!

My daughter is a literature fiend and has been bugging me to go to Bard on the Beach for three years now. Would love to win some tickets for her.
Oooh – pick me! Pick me! 😀
pretty pretty please! (with a cherry on top)
We have been going to Bard for 15+ years and have never been disappointed. Consistently high quality and some truly exceptional moments. Midsommers watching my daughter laugh at Puck and many years ago a goosebump moment during the Tempest when Prospero stopped the storm on stage just as the rain stopped hammering the tent. You could hear a pin drop.
Bard on the Beach is great but I haven’t attended in years. A pair of free tickets (plus the other goodies) would definitely remedy that situation 🙂
You would make Bard so special this year, please.
I’ve been unable to see Bard in the past. Hopefully this will be the year that changes. Thanks for the chance!
We are so lucky to have Bard on the Beach in our city! Really looking forward to this season’s performances and would love some prize tix. 🙂
