Link Fest: April Events in Vancouver

With Easter coming up this weekend there are many egg-hunt related events happening around town. Moving into April, the city will host fashion shows, theatre performances and film events — here’s a quick link fest roundup of some activities to check out.

  • The ReelWorld Film Festival takes place April 7th to April 11th screening shorts, documentaries, animation, music videos from the Aboriginal, Asian, Black, Latino, Middle Eastern, South Asian and films from other multi-racial communities. Follow them on Twitter @ReelWorldFilm for updates
  • The First Weekend Club is hosting the Audience Choice Awards where you can vote for your favourite Canadian films of 2009 until April 7th 2010
  • The Reel 2 Real Film Festival, an international film festival for youth, will run April 9th until April 16th
  • Fashion

  • Scout Boutique presents TrunkShow by Misty Greer happening April 16th from 7:00pm until 10:00pm.
  • Jacqueline Connoir Collection is having a fall/winter 2010 show April 13th at 7:00pm.

  • Music

  • Just Singin’ Round returns to the Vancouver Rowing Club on April 6th with Don Alder, Adam Woodall, Karen Laursen, Beverley Elliott and Mark James Fortin
  • Open now until May 22nd, you can apply for an opening spot at Lillith Fair when it comes to Vancouver
  • Chris Velan is at the Railway Club tomorrow, April 1st at 8:00pm
  • Silvesun Pickups open up for Muse tomorrow night at the Pacific Coliseum
  • The Voice Over mind Festival with “unusual singers & extreme vocalists” runs April 29th until May 27th
  • Community

  • Kwantlen is hosting an Open House April 10th at their Surrey campus from 11:00am until 2:00pm
  • Lilli’Q Cafe at the Roundhouse in Yaletown presents La Femme, a networking event for women in business April 17th
  • The West Vancouver SPCA is hosting a Pub Night Fundraiser at Mosquito Creek Bar and Grill April 8th from 6:00pm until 8:00pm
  • April 10th at 1:00pm the Vancouver Public Library will host the Women’s History Fair
  • The Vancouver International Auto Show is March 30th until April 4th
  • Jeans Day is April 29th
  • Art

  • The Diane Farris Gallery presents the Twitter/ Art+Social Media exhibit that launches tomorrow, April 1st
  • The Beaumont Studios presents Falling Out: Hard Feelings in Mixed Mediums, an interactive art show April 3rd
  • The Spring Living Fair is at the Roundhouse April 25th
  • Theatre

  • In the House Festival is hosting two events April 5th and April 11th you guessed it, in a house. This performance space is meant to bring together community and showcase artists in an intimate setting
  • The Arts Club presents Billy Bishop Goes to War now playing until April 17th
  • Carousel Theatre presents A Year with Frog and Toad, April 17th until May 8th
  • Where’s Charley is playing at Langara’s Studio 58 until April 18th

      These are mostly user-submitted or gathered from city events pages. I focus on community events and other things generally put on my radar.
