Sherlock Holmes Movie Pass Giveaway
byThe Sherlock Holmes Movie starring Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law is coming out on Christmas Day and I for one am rather excited for many reasons.
As a child, I would doodle images of Silver Blaze or the Blue Carbuncle on notepads and show them off to my mother (who would then show them off to everyone she knew). As the daughter of the President of the Sherlock Holmes society it all pretty much came with the territory.
It did take me a while to realize that the game wasn’t actually a foot and that I should never refer to Holmes as a fictional character when my mother was around, however it was always fun to read the stories and to be a part of something she was truly passionate about.
Thanks to some of my fabulous connections, I have some passes to the movie‘s Vancouver premiere on December 21st. First dibs went to my mother’s club so that they can all weigh in on the new story and how well these actors portray their dear friends, Holmes & Watson. I am giving away the rest through my site, to a group of readers who would like to attend.
If you would like to be entered to win a double pass to the premiere screening of this Guy Ritchie film Monday December 21st, please leave a comment on this post and I’ll draw a group of winners on Thursday.
Update: Golden Globe nominations came out today and Robert Downey Jr is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Musical or Comedy for this film!
Update: I have an abundance of movie posters! Each winner can select a Holmes or Watson (Robert Downey Jr or Jude Law) poster as well.
Update: December 17, 2009 — The contest is now closed and the winners have been announced in the video below:
Three double movie passes are available. I will contact the winners by 10am on Thursday to arrange pick up or a meeting time prior to the start of the film on Monday. Please arrive early to the film as premieres usually fill up very quickly. If I draw your name and you cannot attend, another name will be drawn from the list of entries.

I would LOVE to win these tickets!!! I’ve had a countdown to this movie ever since I heard about it 🙂
I am really looking forward to this movie as well, it looks amazing. I can’t wait to see it and would LOVE to win some tickets!
Absolutely interested. Guy Ritchie high-speed carriage chases?! Amazing!
Thanks very much for throwing my hat into the ring.

I’d love to go see the movie along with my friends, before anyone else 🙂 Count me in.
Yes please! Guy Ritchie is a rare director and I’ve liked everything I’ve seen RDJ and Jude Law in, so it’s gotta be good!
Movie looks like a lot of fun, by wife watched the British series back when she was a kid, and it would be cool to see her reaction to Guy Ritchie’s take on it…
The movie looks like a winner. Wouldn’t mind getting first dibs to view it.
I’m an avid reader, although I confess I haven’t read any Sherlock Holmes in quite a while! But I am a HUGE fan of Robert Downey Jr. & can’t wait to see this film. It would be wonderful to be one of the people who attend the premiere. I’m going to be on tenderhooks…. Cheers!
I’m interested to see this, with two talented actors (Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law) portraying two of the most portrayed characters in the 20th Century. Like many, my favourite Holmes is Jeremy Brett – a bit camp, and socially awkward, although with a fierce intelligence at the same time. Peter Cushing did a few good turns as Holmes in the 60s, in a sort of gothic horror Hammer Films context. And I have a weakness for Michael Caine’s comedic charlatan Holmes in Without A Clue, too.
I think these two examples show that the character allows for a vast range of interpretation. The figure of Holmes in the Conan-Doyle stories is something of an enigma. I think this may be why the Holmes mythos is so translatable by actors; that even as readers, we are forced to try and figure Holmes out, to interpret him. He is the bigger mystery as a person than any of his cases are. This is why he’s compelling today, over a century later.
We’ll see how this latest one goes. I hope that they don’t try to turn it into the Matrix, or something.
I’d love to be able to take my sister who is a huuuuuuge Sherlock Holmes fan. She’s read and has all of the Conan Doyle books so it would be a nice pre-Christmas treat for the both of us
cool cool! put my name in the draw too, plsss! 🙂
I have been waiting for this movie for quite some time. It looks fantastic.
Count me in!
The only reason I want to watch this movie is becasue Jude Law is part of the cast:)
Aha! This one is for my husband, the Sherlock Holmes geek. Or perhaps one of my colleagues who dresses us like Sherlock for fun…chacun son gout, n’est-ce pas?
I still have your drawing of “Silver Blaze”. You were about 8 years old. I am still very impressed!
Looking forward to seeing Guy Ritchie’s depiction of Holmes. Would love to win the movie passes.
My friend Robert Maillet is the giant in the movie. He use to wrestle as Kurrgan and we spent time in Korea and Japan together on wrestling tours. Hope you pick me!
I’d like to enter. I remember reading The Adventure of the Speckled Band and being amazed with Holmes’s observation skills. It was around the same time I was reading Encyclopedia Brown, so I pretty much wanted to open a detective agency when I was 8.
I’ve read some of the stories before. I’m also curious how accurate the movie will portray the characters. Fingers crossed*
Please count me in for the draw! Love your blog Miss 604!
certainly interested to see how this one turns out.
I would love to go see it! the trailer looks really cool 😀
I’m in! Thanks.
Oh I think we might be able to attend this one! lol Never been to a movie premiere before!

I love RDJ and Jude Law and Guy Ritchie. Can’t wait for this one and would love to see it sooner than Christmas!!
I sincerely hope that our friendship doesn’t impede on my eligibility to win because I’d really like to see this film.
This looks like a good movie.
I’d love to see this.
Who doesn’t love movie passes?
Would love to see this movie with the very talented Mr. Downey. Jude Law doesn’t suck either:) Hoping to see Guy Ritchie back in form post Madonna. Used to read the stories, would definitely be a step back in time. Fun contest!
I would love to see this movie!
It would be awesome to see this movie 🙂
I would love tickets to this movie, I can’t wait to see it
Add me to the list of people that like free stuff, especially movies 🙂
I loved reading the books as a youngster and it’d be great to see how they translate on film!
I’m quite curious to see what the movie is like, as I’d recently finished reading the Return of Sherlock Holmes. Quite an enjoyable read, BTW, and it’s a free download for Kindle (you can get free reader software for PC or iPhone). From the previews, it looks like it’ll bear very little relation to the original work other than Watson and Holmes’ names, but will probably be a fun movie nonetheless.
I saw the trailer for this just the other day, it looks great. Would love to see the premiere!
Yay, the dynamic duo Victorian style!
I would like to take my uncle or my mom who would totally love to see this, too.
Please enter me in the draw.
I love Robert Downey Jr. I would be so happy to win passes!
He went to the same high school as I did (Santa Monica High)! Moving along, I’d sure love to win a pair of pass to the movie; have heard a ton of good things about it!
I can’t wait to see this!!
I would love to go see this movie…2 good looking men, right before Christmas, what else can you ask for?? 🙂
I would love to see this movie!!!
i’d really appreciate tickets to this film since i am a self-employed iphone developer who’s been screwed over by apple this year and been unable able to get anything into the store yet, i’ve made no money to spend on movies, or food :^(
I’d love to win!
The Murders in the Rue Morgue was the first Holmes story that I ever read. It was amazing! Such ambiance, such cool characters.
Then my friend bought a board game called 221 B Baker Street. The game was kind of like Clue – because it was a mystery, I guess – but it was really fun.
Later I got into books by Poe and Lovecraft and other stuff. I don’t think that I would have appreciated those other writers without having first read the Holmes stories.
Please include my name in your draw! Can’t wait to see this movie.
Count me in – I’d love to go to the Vancouver premiere!
Guy Ritchie? Roberty Downy Jr?
Sure to be a great movie!
I’m in. 😀
anything with robert downy jr is bound to be good!
I’ve never been to a movie premiere before!
I am looking forward to seeing this movie, hopefully on the big screen
Surprisingly, I’ve never read a Sherlock Holmes story. I find that odd considering I’m totally into the mystery/suspense style novel and Sherlock is the epitome of the genre, but nope.
I would love to win this.
HOLMES!!!!!!!!!!! Elementary My Dead Watson!!
Count me in please! Excited to see how Guy Ritchie’s vision will play out!
Can’t wait to see Downey Jr. and Law bicker it out and kick some British butt! I’m in!
Ooooo, yes please. Have wanted to see this the day I heard it’s getting a reboot!
Would LOVE to see this movie. Thank you for the consideration.
Tickets? Really, I could use some tickets! Have been waiting a year!
i’m going to assume this is how i enter the contest for the tickets little miss604?
can’t wait to see this movie, i think it’ll be one of those flicks that ‘has it all’… so excited!
Is there a “terms of service” for these draws? Never sure if they are on the level. In any case, would love to vicariously travel to 221B Baker Street.
Hi Peter,
The passes are all official Warner Bros.-issued tickets that are valid to admit two people to the screening. The passes need to be exchanged at the box office for actual theatre tickets so the winners are advised to show up very early to make sure they can do this & get some good seats.
My own terms are stated above:
Hope that helps!
Rebecca
I cannot wait to see this! Count me in…
The complete Sherlock Holmes has always been my “Deserted Island” choice of books.
Count me in!
I would love to win!
Love to win these! 🙂 I’d take my teenage son and have a gas.
Robert Downey has had such a wild career, he’s such a great actor. I think it was fantastic he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Tropic Thunder!
Merry Christmas!!
k
Sherlock Holmes that’s my adolescence. Sherlock holmes was my “first CSI”….probably why I am studying in forensic 😉
I, like you, was a Sherlock Holmes fan as a child. Who, at age 10, goes around saying “indubitably” and attempts to unlock the mystery of the missing earring for her mother? Me. That’s who. I’m in!! Been waiting for this day since I first became addicted to the A&E series back in the day.
I can’t wait to see this movie!
I am always in favour of free tickets and I like the idea of getting to see the movie before my son – who usually sees everything before I do.
Always been a big Conan Doyle fan and used to work around the corner from 221B Baker Street
I have visited 221B Baker Street, London three times in my life. Neither Holmes nor Watson were in. Mrs. Hudson was in, I was infomred, and in the kitchen whipping up a trifle. We all know that to Holmes nothing was more important than trifles!
One of the first places I went to when I visited London was 221B Baker Street…count me in!
I would love to go!!! Thanks!
Sounds like a good one ….
I would really love to win these!
Hope I win, my wife love Robert Downey Jr.
What a great cast!
The speckled band was the first Holmes mystery I ever read and I’ve been hooked ever since. I would love to win tickets to the premiere!
It looks like a great movie. I can’t wait to see it.
Count me in for the draw please. I love RDJ and I love ACB.

Count me in on this draw! Been looking forward to this movie so hope I win! 😀
Would like to be entered in the draw. Thanks!

Mike
