My Sister's Keeper Movie Pass Giveaway

Comments 42 by Rebecca Bollwitt

Next week My Sister’s Keeper will hit theatres and I have a handful of double passes to give away to my readers so they can check it out. Based on the novel by Jodi Picoult, it stars Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), and is directed by Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook).

I also have a special sneak peak of the Pete Yorn single, “Don’t Wanna Cry” which is featured in the film.

Pete Yorn – Don’t Wanna Cry

To enter to win one of the movie passes (valid for any Cineplex theatre) please leave a comment below listing your favourite, emotional, meaningful, moving chick flick of all time. If you’re able to get all of that into a tweet as well, I’ll include that as an entry. I’ll draw a winner at the end of the week when I’m out of town on a girls getaway with one of my favourite gals.

As a side note, if you’re up for more movie giveaways, check out MovieSet.com‘s sweepstakes that I’ve featured here.

Update: I have just drawn the winners and Maryanne, Alex, Aria, Paulo, and Wendy be notified by email – thanks to everyone for entering the contest!

  2. n*Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 12:46pm PDT

My all time chick flick movie would have to be “Before Sunset” & “Before Sunrise”. It was the most emotional and meaningful movie for me.

  3. Erin HochsteinTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 12:51pm PDT

My vote would have to be Fried Green Tomatoes.

  4. JanisTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 12:57pm PDT

If we’re going with ALL TIME favourite, it’s gotta be Pretty Woman.

  5. Jason KuryloTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 1:04pm PDT

Chick flicks fall into several categories for me…

My all time fave romantic comedy is head’n’shoulders above the rest: When Harry Met Sally. It’s the model upon which every subsequent romcom has been built, and Meg Ryan’s hair in the final ballroom scene is absolutely epic!

Romantic fantasies come and romantic fantasies go, but The Princess Bride lives on forever.

Oh, and gal pal bonding stories? Thelma & Louise, no question.

  6. Miss604Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 1:08pm PDT

@ Jason – I walked down the aisle to Storybook Love from The Princess Bride *sigh*

  7. DonnaTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 1:10pm PDT

My all time favorite chick flick is Beaches with Bette Middler!

  8. Linda BilbenTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 1:12pm PDT

Fried Green Tomatoes when she dies of cancer – I bawl everytime -and I have seen the movie over 20 times easily.

  9. ErinTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 1:17pm PDT

Love Actually is my favourite – romantic and funny, but with intersecting storylines that show the wide range of “love” as we experience it: puppy love, the love of a man for his recently deceased wife, an unrequited love for a friend’s wife, love that reaches across language/culture barriers, love versus duty, love in the face of infidelity.

  10. priyanTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 1:38pm PDT

heard of dat movie….wish 2 watch it !

  11. DarrenTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 2:01pm PDT

That song title is kind of ironic, because this badboy looks like a total weep-fest.

  12. JessicaTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 2:10pm PDT

    Practical Magic.
Loved the soundtrack, and loved the sister / girl bonding theme throughout. And in the end, she gets her guy! The one she’d always dreamt and wished for! How can you beat that.

  13. AlexTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 3:41pm PDT

My pick would be Runaway Bride featuring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts.

  14. Yasmin AbrahamTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 3:54pm PDT

My all time favourite chick flick is Love Actually. So many amazing characters and great story lines of how love can be displayed in so many different ways.

My favourite scene is when Colin Firth’s character goes back to Portugal after learning Portugese to find his house keeper whome he’s never spoken a word of English to.

    *sigh

  19. Fedora F.Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 6:18pm PDT

I would have to say The Princess Bride-I mean c’mon, its such a classic! Also characters like Inigo Montoya make the love story funny at the same time.

  20. LisetteTuesday, June 30th, 2009 — 7:01pm PDT

  28. TaraWednesday, July 1st, 2009 — 1:43am PDT

My all time favorite emotional chick flick would have to be A Walk to remember, Its a great story of a girl who is living with leukemia, it was in recession and acts up again after her body no longer responded to treatment, she starts changing a guys life after he messes up badly when hanging with friends, all his friends notice the change and he does to, and he starts falling for her, and she tells him not to.

  29. Shellie WetrickWednesday, July 1st, 2009 — 5:42am PDT

    The NoteBook

  30. ChristineWednesday, July 1st, 2009 — 7:38am PDT

Love Actually was one of my all-time favorites, too, but then I’m just a huge Colin Firth fan and I thought that story line was very sweet. Yasmin, the house where he and his Portuguese housekeeper met is actually in the south of France, and the town he goes back to is Marseille, France where there is apparently a good-sized Portuguese population. It’s the Marseille airport where he throws that hilarious jumping up and down fit over having to give up the cab to an older woman.

  31. Katy LinWednesday, July 1st, 2009 — 7:53am PDT

just one! there are so many! Somewhere In Time, You’ve Got Mail, Little Women, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, I could go on and on! I love a good chick flick! 🙂

  32. DeeWednesday, July 1st, 2009 — 10:46am PDT

Well, I don’t know if I can say I have a favourite for all time but the last one I love the best is tied between Love Actually and PS. I Love You.

Surprise surprise, before I saw any of the comments, what came to mind was “The Notebook”. Clearly a success when it can get this many responses (I also know several guys who teared up during this “chick flick”).
