League of Rock Vancouver Contest
byThe League of Rock is coming to Vancouver and on July 22nd at their official launch party, Rachael Chatoor and I have the privilege of giving away an entire membership to one lucky participant.
About the League
Last week I profiled the League of Rock for E!Online after speaking with founder, Terry Moshenburg.
In 2006 Terry Moshenberg made the observation that there are book clubs, hockey leagues and even knitting leagues, but nothing for rock—so he invented it! He founded the League of Rock in Toronto and they’re about to go international, including the launch of a Vancouver program this summer.
“The League of Rock harnesses the unsung heroes of rock or the unknown musical population,” he explained. “It’s for grownups who rock and who have day jobs and families — and I’m one of those people.” It brings together the types of people who have been having private jam sessions in their basements and gives them access to long-time professionals who might be looking for something new, or more ways to connect and communicate with audiences. Linking these groups by allowing non-pros to learn from industry veterans through workshops was a logical connection for Moshenberg… continue reading…
The League runs in seasons and there are ten sessions each time. The way it works is that all registered members show up at a “draft” event where they’ll be put into bands on the spot. They’ll then have ten weeks to perfect songs (original or covers) and throughout the process they’ll weed it down to a single song for their band. At the end of the season all of the songs by the bands will be put onto a ‘greatest hits’ album produced by the League of Rock. This is of course a very basic rundown as members will also get in workshops, do performances for the other bands, and have access to some great rock resources. There are already 350 members in Toronto’s League of Rock and I know there’s a huge interest in Vancouver as well.
About the contest
Vancouver’s first season begins this summer with the “draft” event at the Yale on July 22nd. It’s a big huge bonus if you register before July 17th as you could win your registration back. Since there are only 40 spots to fill, your odds are pretty good. However, it’s filling up fast so you’ll want to act quickly.
The second way to win a membership (for the entire season, value $1,000) is through Rachael and me. You will gain an entry any one of the following ways or combine for three chances to win:
Rachael and I will combine all of the entries and tweets when we make the draw in person at Vancouver’s launch night. You must be present at the League of Rock launch party on July 22nd when we do the draw in order to claim the prize. This is an amazing opportunity to live out a dream in your life — and to just rock out.
