Friday Link Fest: What's Going On

Comments 4 by Rebecca Bollwitt

I have some really fun activities coming up that I’ll be covering on my site, from more boating adventures to dinosaurs and mountain tops. On top of that I’ll do my best to share even just a small representation of all the neat things you can get up to over the next little while in this week’s link fest.

  • It’s the Play On! 4 on 4 street hockey tournament this weekend near GM Place so watch for road closures including, Keefer St., Quebec St., Abbott St., Union St. and Pacific Blvd. All closures will be in effect until 10:00 p.m. Sunday. [News1130]

  • It’s Car Free Day this Sunday. This means that Denman Street, Commercial Drive, Main Street and various blocks in Kitsilano will be shut off to vehicle traffic. There will be vendors, activities, and hopefully some jump rope or dare I say, hoola hooping. This also coincides with the opening of the Main Street Summer Market that will be on Main and 17th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. Check out the Farmers Market in your area, including one in Burnaby that is starting its season this weekend.

I’ve been going to the farmer’s market at Trout Lake. I didn’t know there’s one on Main and 17th. It’s much closer to my house! Is there a website for the Main Street Summer Market?
