Miss604's DQ Grill and Chill Contest
bySome would think it was a mistake to scarf down an entire cookie dough Blizzard right before a 5km run in an afternoon PE class but it never seemed to phase me in high school. The DQ on King George played host to many lunches, $2 cheeseburger combo meals (split 4 or 5 ways), and Peanut Buster Parfait samples in my youth. Now the Dairy Queen that many grew up with is growing as well, offering up a refreshing new menu alongside the classics with their flagship “DQ Grill and Chill” restaurants.
Vancouver’s first DQ Grill and Chill will be opening this Saturday, March 7th and throughout the day proceeds from every single ice cream cone purchased there will go to the Childrens Miracle Network. On top of that, $1 for each cake sold at this location every day will go to the cause.
To celebrate, I have four gift cards (of $25) to give away to my readers, here’s how to enter:
I’ll give away all four gift cards on Thursday, March 5th so that the winners will have time to catch the grand opening on Saturday if they like. Feel free to pop by the new location at 5907 Fraser street to check it out and have a chance at winning some fun prizes including a cake that they’ll be giving away each hour.
Gift cards are good at any Dairy Queen location.
Update March 6, 2009: I have drawn the winners – some of which had multiple bonus points for photos on Flickr, along with Tweets, but thanks to everyone for entering and I hope you can make it out to the new location to support the great cause.
Winners are:
Rachel JP Holecka @JayPiddy Michael Yurechko @Yurechko @Brandice

Tweeted and posted to FB. What an AWESOME and generous idea to donate $1 for every cake. I love ice cream cakes, I’ll go out of my way to buy one from this store!

And now I’m hungry
I’m in! Nice week for an ice cream, it will be.
The mention of DQ always reminds me of my Grandma. Every time that I would stay at her place for the weekend when I was a little girl, a trip to Dairy Queen for a dilly bar would be a guaranteed part of the plan.
Yum ! Cookie dough blizzards are my favorite!
DQ burgers have to be some of the best around… somehow the mustard and pickles combination is so much better than any other fast food burger. Really, I’m trying to cut back on that type of thing, but I should go there sometime soon for a meal.
i have so many after-school memories at my local DQ too! it was like the cool, hip place to meet before we were old enough to go to bars! all of the cool kids had DQ cakes for their birthdays…and i still crave it today!

Ummm I love DQ ice cream! 😀
Thanks for entering, everyone! I think Michael just said it best on Twitter… A $25 gift card can buy a Blizzard a week for like 6 weeks hehe.
Also, according to my sources, the owner of the new DQ has a daughter who unfortunately is in and out of the Childrens Hospital – hence the very generous donation of $1 from every cake sold (every day) going to the cause.
