Contest Results and Earth Hour WordPress Plugin
byOver the last week or so I’ve been running a contest for this year’s Earth Hour which will take place March 28th between 8:30pm and 9:30pm. The results are now in:
Ariane C is the winner for her comment on the Earth Hour Canada – Vancouver Contest post. She may now choose between the Aus Pen from EcoSmartWorld Prize Pack or the Grand Prize from Grouse Mountain. The prize she does not choose will also be given away in a random draw.
Update: Ariane has accepted the Grand Prize so the Eco Smart prize pack has been awarded to Jen Huckdoll.
Congratulations and remember to take some photos during Earth Hour and then upload them to the group Flickr pool.
As mentioned in my original post this year, in 2008 my pal Duane took his blog offline during Earth Hour. He’s expanded on that idea this year and his company has produced a plugin for WordPress users.
The plugin will put a landing page up instead of your website during Earth Hour and will feature the number of other people who have it installed. It comes with a countdown clock as well that will display as a small banner on the top of your site until the actual Earth Hour (as you can now see at the top of Miss604.com).
You can download the plugin and read more over on BraveNewCode’s website. Feel free to Digg it too! I’m looking forward to seeing how many WordPress users around the globe will be shutting down in solidarity in honor of this event.

Earth Hour is really a good concept on how we could spend at least a few minutes of our time in remembering mother Eearth. people should be more aware and more caring of our environment now that we have Global Warming and Climate Change.
