Canada’s Cultural Capital for 2008 will be kicking off an entire week of winter-related festivities starting tomorrow. As previously noted, Winterfest will be taking place on Saturday but there are many events throughout the week that the entire family can enjoy, either for free or at low-cost.
Here are just a few of the many events taking place this week in Surrey.
Friday, February 8th at 10:00am the Spirit Flag will be raised at City Hall. The event is FREE for all ages and participants will be served beverages and “Spirit Cake”.
The Surrey Museum features the “Best of BC” from February 2008 through December 2008 – including a special series on bikes, February 9th.
Friday night is also Parent’s Night Out, where you can drop off your kids at the Fleetwood Community Centre (from 6:00pm to 9:00pm) for a group babysitting session while you go out and play, kid free. On the other hand if that makes you feel too guilty, there will also be a Family Fun Night at the same place, at the same time.
Surrey Sport and Leisure hosts a FREE skate on Sunday February 10th from 11:15am to 12:45pm.
There’s something called Pickle Ball happening at the South Surrey Rec Centre on February 13th from 8:00pm to 9:45pm. Don’t ask, I just don’t know…
On the same night (February 13th, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm) there’s a FREE family swim at South Surrey Pool.
