Tuesday Morning Link Fest: New Logo Edition

Comments 7 by Rebecca Bollwitt

thugs Last night Keira, Amy and I took to the North Shore and carved up Mount Seymour (for a cause). I calculated that I haven’t been in FOUR years (not two like I previously thought) but it came right back to me, “like riding a bicycle”. I was carving down the black diamond, which on Seymour is more like a blue run, and seriously considered doing some jumps again but I thought since this was my first time back in the bindings… I wouldn’t risk it.

This morning I am barely sore, the thighs were burning a little last night though, but I’d like to remind all ladies that if you want to head up to the “girls ride free” guy’s night out you need to pick up a pass IN THE CITY before you come up. A list of retail locations can be found here, and please remember to bring a donation.

Now, on to what’s making headlines this morning:

  • Calling all guys and gals who want to dress up as mascots over the next two years. [News1130]
  • People with kids aren’t supposed to live downtown… apparently. Who would have thought that building HUNDREDS of condos and residential buildings downtown could lead to the need for schools. [Thanks to Henry for this link from the CBC]
  • There’s talk of a giant wooden umbrella-type cover to be suspended over Robson Square [Vancouver Sun] or as Sean puts it: “Just to rub in the fact that they can’t put a roof over homeless peoples’ heads, Campbell is putting a roof over Robson.”
  • Speaking of roofs, you can sign your name on one that will cover the Olympic speed skating venue in Richmond this weekend, Saturday and Sunday at City Hall from 10-2pm. [News1130]
  • Eight days into 2008 and we have the first big Pattullo Bridge crash. [CKNW]
  • The Surrey Food Bank and Surrey Christmas Bureau thank YOU! They received record numbers of donations this season. [Surrey Leader]
  • In preparation for my birthday tomorrow, my husband is starting festivities tonight by taking me to the Canucks game, where they face the Islanders. For a game-day previews, check out the Canucks Hockey Blog.
