I’m packing my bags tonight and heading to Toronto for the first time since the summer of 2004. I really won’t have much time to spend in town (ie. shopping at H&M or going to the Hockey Hall of Fame) but it should still be a good time. I think everyone my mom knows on the planet will be tuning in to the CBC on Sunday night to see me make an ass of myself but hey, all publicity is good publicity though, right?…. right? Here’s a lovely Friday morning link fest to kick start your weekend.
Here’s me trying to complete a “Mental Gyms” exercise in preparation for Test the Nation trivia on Sunday. Don’t laugh (I know I got #6 totally wrong).
I’m loving the latest Against Me! album “New Wave” from this past summer. Contrary to popular belief of CFOX listeners, no – they are NOT a new band, they’ve actually been around in some form since I was in high school. At any rate, they’ll be opening up for the Foo Fighters at the Pacific Coliseum in March. A single on New Wave called “Borne on the FM Waves of the Heart” also features Tegan, of Tegan and Sara. Here’s their heavy-rotation single – although it’s still pretty freakin sweet. Check out their MySpace to sample more tracks.
We released Episode 56 of The Crazy Canucks last night and as usual, it’s peppered with the delightful tunes of Matthew Good, which we have permission to mix into our productions. So if you’re not even in to hockey, check out the podcast… just for that.
Speaking of the Canucks, at Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Wild volunteers will be collecting sock donations for the “Sox and the City” campaign. [News1130]
Unfortunately since I’m going to Toronto, I won’t be around for the Skate for a Cure on Sunday. Thank you to everyone who donated for the cause and I’ve given my spot to John who will be skating at GM Place along with JJ from the Canucks Hockey Blog.
I’ll probably check in from some airport somewhere or once I’ve settled in at the hotel. If anyone has any suggestions for a neat place to eat (or have a blogger meetup) in Toronto on Saturday night, leave me a comment.
