This afternoon John, Duane and I will be headed East for some generic camping fun times on the outskirts of Chilliwack (maybe you’ve seen the flyer). More people will be joining us throughout the weekend and we’re looking forward to staying dry and having a ton of fun.
First off, one of our favourite shows this season is coming back in the fall despite being canceled (Nuts!) [Canada.com]. We are both very, very excited.
The latest episode of the Lipgloss and Laptops podcast is available for your listening pleasure [Episode#64]. It’s a local all-female podcast hosted by the incomparably sweet, geeky and funny Airdrie and Kerry Anne who give a shout out to my post about “Muffin Tops” in their Reality Check segment.
A while ago I posted a photo on Flickr about Gastown leaving their lights on all day. I captured the warm glow of the streetlights while it was 28 degrees outside at around 2:00pm. Yesterday we were walking back from lunch and I noticed city workers adjusting the lights – they were installing compact fluorescent energy-savers in ALL street lamps along Water Street. I’d like to think I had a hand in that somehow (although unlikely) and I snapped a photo to follow up. Unfortunately my phone must have been pretty tired from the Photowalk the night before because the photo didn’t save anywhere.
Speaking of the Photowalk, the second edition of the Gastown Photowalk took place on June 6th and was pretty much a success. A group of about 40 people meandered their way around the back alleys of the neighbourhood and shot pictures of everything from rusty nails, graffiti, and Boris spread-eagle on the train tracks. My camera phone photos are up on Flickr in this set or you can read Duane’s recap post, visit the Facebook Group, or vieweveryone’s Flickr Pics.
And finally, our pal Corinna from GusGreeper.com launched a WordPress site this past week. I know the stress and anxiety that comes with changing, moving, and fiddling with the core of your blog so I hope she’s liking the new theme. There’s still a couple banners to be added and the content will be the same eclectic, hilarious and brutally honest goodness, it will just look a whole lot nicer.
As for me, I’m off to camp – and you better believe their will be photos to prove it come Monday, like Duane always says, “don’t worry, this won’t be on the internet,” but you know it will.
