fumbling to make contact

Last night we caught Big Brother and Rockstar at Laura‘s house-sitting-house while playing Trivial Pursuit, 90s Edition. I can’t believe John didn’t get the questions about the Melissa and Michaelangelo virii and he can’t believe I got the Henry Kissenger question right. We stayed there way too late then walked home around midnight from Yaletown to the West End. Got in bed with about 6 hours until the alarm clock went off which is not nearly enough sleep time for me. The result: shakey, pale and green-faced all morning, coming into the office, leaving to go vomit, pounding headache and poofy eyes. Man, that’s the last time I stay up past bed time on a weeknight. Seriously, how old am I?

All I want to do is go home and crawl into bed. Actually, I want to go home and lay on the couch with the poofy comforter, have Campbell’s chicken noodle soup, watch daytime TV then pass out around 2:00 pm when there’s nothing really on. That transition from daytime programming to after school shows always puts me to sleep.

Speaking of, last night one my trivia questions was about Susan Lucci from All My Children [wiki]. The only reason I got that right was because when I was little All My Kids was as much a part of my daily routine as much as brushing my teeth. I think my mom actually put me in the morning kindergarden class so that she could pick me up from school, come home, and catch the show.

Before I went to kindergarden I would sit at home with activity books (because I was always jealous of my bro and sis getting school supplies, my mom would buy work books, pencils etc. to play with). I’d watch CBC morning kids programming such as: The Friendly Giant [cbc], Fred Penner’s Place, Mr. Dressup (w/Casey and Finnigan not those other freaks), and Sesame Street. Then of course All My Children would come on the CBC followed by Midday News, my queue to pass out.

I’ve been in a funk all morning, working, reading blogs and commanding Chris to play some Death Cab in the office. The blog finds were uneventful except for the post at VCOE (gotta love her rants) about the Kesler deal that went down yesterday [Vancouver Canucks Op Ed].

Oh, I also got an email saying that I’m now listed on 25peeps.com – I kinda forget how that happened, it seems rather shameless but um, website traffic is always good. Again, if I could only make money off this stuff… I’d be set.

Time to cheer up, memory lane is closed. Chris says the sun is coming out and I should be happy.

super fun! john’s on a board-game winning streak lately. he *FINALLY* beat me at a scrabble game last week (which we resorted to playing because the power was out in the building) and then last night I had ALL BUT ONE pie piece, everyone else still needed all theirs… then something happened, they rallied and John came out on top. I won’t hear the end of this for a while :p

not from me. You should have won. John must have been cheating somehow…. hmmm.

I’ve been like death warmed over today, too. My trek to Surrey started with a 5am wake up call…. so, 4 hours sleep was not the best idea before going for training. Good thing most of my training was done by 11am and the rest of the day I just helped out Christine & chitchatted with the Surrey Campus staff.

Falling asleep on the skytrain on the way back just capped my day off.
