with my teeth bite down I can see the blood

we’ve face-planted into a brand new season of Rescue Me. I got hooked on the show last summer when visiting John – god bless his DVR. we watched almost the entire season in one shot and i think split a bottle (and a half) of wine that night as well… yeah, we’re geeks.
I then watched more repeats on Showcase last fall. FX is airing season three right now but us in Canadia won’t see it on Showcase until the fall again. Luckily we’ve found the first episode of season 3 on bit torrent, and i assume we’ll be getting the rest from there as well (shh!)

Leary’s trademark ferocity and fearlessness drive Rescue Me, a series about a team of firemen struggling with their wives and lovers in post-9/11 New York City. Tommy Gavin (Leary, No Cure for Cancer, The Ref) is the guy everyone confides in, the heart of the firehouse–but he’s also an active alcoholic who rages about his wife Janet (Andrea Roth) leaving him, a man guilt-ridden and literally haunted by all the people he blames himself for failing to save.

The show is dark humoured and gut wrenchingly emotional without being extremly sappy. It’s just plain emotional. It makes you angry, nervous, sad, happy, and anything else you could imagine. The first season is available on DVD now. I know John loves the opening theme music, as do I. I can’t hear that song now without the emotions of the show building up inside of me. Ooof.. it’s just that good!
