standin' tall – on the wings of my dream

I know the HOT n SUNNY weekend is coming up but I’ve already gone on about what we’re up to this weekend. We’re already going to watch Rescue Me tonight and everyone knows the Draft is tomorrow. Hopefully we’ll be able to get out to the beach and do fun outdoor things. I’ll be sure to post some pics when I can but here’s what I just feel like talking about this morning…
I’m on an 80s kick recently. I was Kelly Kapowski (msn display pic) all last week and this week I’ve decided to be Tutti. Not sure what I’ll be next week… although I got a lot of laughs and an instant conversation starters with the pic of Bugs Bunny in drag I had up for a while…I guess it’s nostalgia, although my sister would say I’m not allowed to be nostalgic about the 80s since I was so young. I was born in 1980 so most of the ‘pop culture’ I would be mostly familiar with would be the late 80s/90s.

If you haven’t noticed already, the 80s are “back”. Not necessarily in good way (come on, leggings? Why not go all out and break out the neon slouch socks!), they’re back in a re-hashed, ‘oh i remember that’ kinda way.

There’s a consumer focus on my generation. We are becoming parents (not me – don’t worry mom!) so the toys on store shelves are appealing to us as much as the kids. Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch Kids etc. A leathery Hulk Hogan is wrestling again (when did this happen?) and Joey McIntye shows up on ‘Dancing withthe Stars‘ (every girl at some point was probably imaging herself married to him by now).

So here’s my question, you’ve got the popular Growing Pains and Who’s the Boss with the catchy opening theme music that everyone remembers, but what about the lesser-known shows that I KNOW people watched but barely talk about … (or even want to remember :p). Drop a name, lyrics to a theme… try me, it’ll make me smile.

I have to say youtube has saved me from boredom induved lunacy at work many a lonely night. I love searching the funny commercials or weird people dancing or even checking out clips from shows I’ve missed or music videos I’ve yet to see.
    Goodtimes.
